5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Must Have' for Every Parent, June 17, 2000
This review is from: The Joyful Child (Paperback)
I MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! This parenting manual thoroughly illustrates the definition of and the source of joy. It enlightens parents to the concept that our children can and should be joyful and that we will become more joyful ourselves in the process. It examines many personalities and methods to appropriately love, nurture and support each. Included, is a very full, but simple and effective list of activities that any loving parent can and will engage in with their child/children. Words cannot express enough how thankful I am to have found such a 'Joyful' Parenting help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Presents a system of positive self-programming, May 21, 2001
This review is from: The Joyful Child (Paperback)
In The Joyful Child: A Sourcebook Of Activities And Ideas For Releasing Children's Natural Joy, Peggy Jenkins presents a system of positive self-programming through parent or teacher directed activities ranging from games, songs, and stories to puppetry, art, music, and movement. This very highly recommended, "user friendly" compendium of information and references will enhance any classroom, home schooling, or parent-child efforts to nurture and develop a child's ability and skills to enjoy and learn from their life experiences.

4.0 out of 5 stars Parent of a Joyful Child, August 9, 2005

This review is from: The Joyful Child (Paperback)
I like this book a lot, even though I have to admit it didn't start out exactly as I had anticipated. However, that may have just been my interpretation of the title and reviews. Nonetheless, this is a GREAT book for reaffirming the importance of being mindful with others and children in particular. I appreciate the authors careful research and index of resources to delve deeper in to specifics if I want to and her ability to get me excited to try things outside of my personal comfort zone. This is a book I know I'll have for many years to come and use over and over again. It is full of various techniques or ways to bring out our natural state of joyfulness so it can benefit a wide array of personalities and temperments. I have already used several ideas with my daughter, her playmates and for the childcare I provide for kids ranging between 2 - 8 years old. If you like knowing why and how something works, you'll enjoy this book. It gives you that ALONG with concrete things to do. I will definitely by this author again.
