Pau Casals was the greatest. Franco caused the flight and/or early death of many Spanish intellectuals-- Machado, Picasso, Miguel Hernandez, Lorca. Casals always loved his homeland and this book brought this out.

One of my favorite reads of the summer. I fell in love with Pablo Casals! What an interesting life. He was not only a gifted musician, but he helped so many other people get a start and had such a wonderful, positive outlook that he maintained throughout his long and full life. An inspiration, to be sure.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I knew nothing about Pablo Casals when I first read this book - it was recommended by a friend. I was blown away by what an amazing person he was .... and by what in interesting life he had led.

This is an excellent bio done by someone that obviously knew Pable very well over a long period of time. Very well written by a broad subject experienced writer. Pable Casals had a very very interesting long life to say the least. A surprisingly very goosd read. High;y recommended. Do not have to love music or know Pablo Csals msical work or career to fully appreciate this book.
