J.P Does It Again,

I have to agree with the reviewer "AZ Brotha" Jesse Powell is one of the most underrarted singers in music right now.. Hopefully with his third CD he will get the recognition that he deserves so much.. If you looking for a CD that is soulful and very romantic you have to look no further then to this CD.. At 54 minutes 24 seconds this cd pure musical ecstasty.. I cant get this CD out of my Cd player.. From the opening track It'll Take The World to the closing track his unforgettable rendition of Al Hudson & One Way Something In The Past.. This song took me back no question!!.. This is the perfect CD to put on when you spending quality time with your significant other or just chillin to yourself.. You will be hooked i promise youMy personal favorites: It'll Take The World, I'm Leaving, If I Take My Breath Away, Something In The Past This is an excellent CD believe me you going to really enjoy this

A beautiful C.D. with so much love andsensuality,

I have long awaited Jesse's new album and did not hesitate to buy it. If you want to relax-play it, if you wanna make love-play it, if you want to have a stimulating conversation with someone-play it, it is a beautiful well rounded C.D. I am in total awe with 'If I, the words are no joke because he is telling her that without her he doesn't know what he is gonna do, One Way's remix of Something in the past is well arranged and he sang that song, I do mean he sang that song. I'm leaving you with his sisters explains to his woman that he ain't even about to get mistreated,Go upstairs speaks of his passion for her and how he just can't wait to show her how he feels, I didn't realize tells how he wants and needs her back because he didn't know how things would be after his love walked out the door,I copuld go on and on, bottom line is Jesse Powell can lay down a ballad and I am feeling him all the way, this is a must have C.D, Jesse deserves to be on top, this brother can sing very well and I am happy to have him in my house and my car...this is a Beautiful C.D!!!!!!

I can not get the brand new JESSE POWELL CD out of the changer. This brother is sooooo damn underrated and this just may be his best cd to date. Now if you like your QUIET STORM un-THUGIFIED, then this is the CD for you. I am not the greatest fan of remakes but Jesse has a very nice update of AL HUDSON and ONE WAYs SOMETHING IN THE PAST that took this brotha back to his high school days back when I was hugging walls at the parties wishing that I had somebody to dance to this song to...maybe that isn't a good memory, but this is a beautiful song and Jesse does it justice. The rest of the cd is just as nice. I think the first single from the cd is IF I and the video is included on the cd(its one of those ENHANCED CDs) His kid sisters, TRINA AND TAMERA of MY LOVE IS THE SHHHHHH fame, back up big brother on most of the tracks and they sound just as good as ever(that reminds me, I need to pick up their cd, it came out a couple of years ago but I only heard one single from it so I didn't know if it was any good or not) Every one of the cd's 12 tracks totally satisfies, well okay there is an exception, I wasn't feeling Jesse on the upbeat I CAN'T TAKE it, his only real foray into DYSFUNCTIONAL THUG territory, but I can forgive that. THIS IS A VERY NICE CD.

Twice as Nice,
By Justin M. Webb "JDub" (Anderson, IN USA) - See all my reviews

Mr. Powell has lifted the bar for balladry with "JP," the latest of his trio of projects. Jesse utilizes his awesome vocal talent over solid, tight, and wonderful melodic tracks such as "It'll Take the World," an upbeat gem that stands distinct to the rest of the set. The first single, "If I" is so soothing it's almost slippery.None of these songs are overdone or annoying in any fashion, causing one to want to hear the album over and over to remember the clean percussion and beautiful vocals. "Invisible Man" stands out as maybe the catchiest song, featuring a nice lead piano over a strong crisp track. "I Didn't Realize" resembles that of a group ballad, due to the pen of the great and currently hot Shep Crawford (Boyz II Men, Deborah Cox, etc). Damon Thomas (often a co-writer with Babyface) lends an expert hand with "Take My Breath Away," probably the most creatively inspired joint on the set. Mixing a few electrically driven sweet guitars with a friendly piano melody, the song could be the All-Star track of Jesse's latest work. Overall, this album easily out weighs Jesse's first two projects. There's no doubt it is the most mature we've seen him, and his vocal abilities have only improved and become more controlled. This is a good set and worth the 28 cans of pop - or 14 dollars.

I am and will always be a Jesse Powell fan. Jesse you are beautiful. I remember when I first heard the single, "You". I ran to the store at a break neck pace. I was so amazed to hear your beautiful male voice singing so elegantly...I have been hooked ever since. I had the same reaction when I heard Invisible Man. I am so disappointed that your name is not out there like Luther Vandross. I think you are equally talented if not more. I look forward to seeing you in concert one day. I believe that you are truly blessed. I could not believe the two reviews I read from England on this site. Obviously those individuals do not have an ear for true talent. They sound like some millie vanillie fans. Jesse I want you to know that I keep your cd's in my cd changer. Your cd's are worth buying. Other artists cds are worth burning. Your cds are worth buying. These are collectors items.

This is a nice CD and is one that should be in your collection because I let the CD play all the way through without skipping any and you can't do that with many CD's nowadays. Don't sleep on this one.

My favorite Cd of all time,
This review is from: Jp (Audio CD)
I am a real music fan. I love R&B, Rap, Country, Gospel, Rock N Roll You name it. I own Numerous albums and songs. In saying this, this album has got to be my all around favorite. I can actually pop it in and listen to the whole thing without skipping a song. His vocals are off the charts. He is so underestimated and it is ridiculous. I hope he doesnt call it quits, I am waiting for him to come out with a major hit one day then maybe everyone will buy his previous albums and hear what they've been missing.

Easily one of the most underrated R&B singers of his day,
By Derrick Dunn "The Realest DJ" (Woodbridge,VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jp (Audio CD)
Jesse Powell is and always will be one of the most underrated singers in R&B.The inherent irony of JP is that although R&B crooner Jesse Powell presents himself as a mack daddy of the first order--complete with invitations to disrobe and offers of extreme carnal satisfaction--you know there's something more to the story. There's a disarming airiness to Powell's voice and delivery that's ingratiating enough to suggest more depth to his persona than he's willing to admit. Unlike dyed-in-the-wool lotharios like R. Kelly, whose love-'em-and-leave-'em ways are in little doubt, Powell sounds like the type whose big talk might just hide a nice guy with more on his mind than jumping in the sack. In any case, the slow-jam arrangements, vintage analog synths, and hip-hop beats are crafted to please any fan of contemporary R&B, whether one takes Powell at face value or not. Stand out tracks include the sentimental It'lll Take The World,Take My Breath Away and the baby makers Go Upstaris and After We Make Love. Mr Powell also really shines on his cover of Something In The Past.
