This review is from: Jubal A. Early, the Lost Cause, and Civil War History: A Persistent Legacy (Frank L. Klement Lectures) (Paperback)
Mr. Gallagher has given a concise and well researched lecture on the topic of Early's place in the inception and perpetuation of the idolization of Gen. R. E. Lee that began as early as a matter of weeks before Appomattox CH. Students of the "Lost Cause" will find this a good starting point because the author has provided an exceptional bibliography of source material. I am looking forward to the release of Mr. Gallagher's biography of "Lee's Bad Old Man," as I am sure that it will be the best yet to date.
