If you like the style of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, you need to hear this group of siblings.I received this CD by this young trio of siblings from Florida (two brothers - one, the bass player, is only 12 years old and great! - and their sister) a week before I saw them play live at the annual International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis. I was fascinated by their arrangements of mostly traditional songs. They reminded me of the Carolina Chocolate Drops - a group I LOVE - and, honestly, I couldn't tell their ethnicity from the recording. It was just great music and I looked forward to seeingthem play live. They did not disappoint me. And they played to overflow rooms during their showcases. The album is a mix of traditional songs like "The Cuckoo Bird" and "I Will Arise", covers of both a Carter Family song and Patty Griffin's "Rowing Song" and some new compositions by Gailanne and or Roger (the big brother) Amudssen. Younger brother Jeffrey plays bass on a few cuts and the more well-known bassist Byron House takes the stand-up on the other tracks. The packaging is attractive too, in a tri-fold digipak. I'm so glad I discovered this trio this year and think you will too after listening to samples. I hope they have great success. They deserve it. Steve Ramm "Anything Phonographic"
