Nice piece of Literature!,
By
This review is from: Jubiaba (Paperback)
Amado is one of my favorite writers, so it is no surprise that Jubiaba is a wonderful literary piece. This book truly gives a glimpse of Bahian culture and the role of Afro-Brazilian religious traditions in the average Bahiano's daily life. The book's cover and publishing is a bit dated, but like the old saying goes, "don't judge this book by it's cover"!

excellent rendition of life in Brazil,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jubiaba (Paperback)
Amado does an excellent piece of work portraying both life in Brazil and the story of a young man and his involvement with Jubiaba, the voodoo priest. The man's rise and the price he pays are well told, as with all of Amado's work.

A Great Book to Read!!!!,

This review is from: Jubiaba (Paperback)
Knowing the strong African traditions the state of Bahia has, I acquired this book and I was right to buy it! In this book, you will find regionalism at its highest level. Amado was able to perfectly add regionalistic characteristics of his region and develop a story that will capture your heart and make you ponder about life... A great read for any Brazilianist, and Literature lovers.
