2.0 out of 5 stars Errors
There are errors in the translation making it hard to understand details. Chapter 4 verses 1 and 2 is one example. Be sure to use online resourses to double check confusing passages. When translated correctly the Book of Jubilees is a tremendous blessing from Above.

The book of Jubilees is a "must read" for all serious students of the Bible. While Jubilees is not considered a part of the Old Testament Canon by our generation, it is in fact of great historical import. The book of Jubilees is of no less import than our books on archeology, land maps, Hebrew and Greek syntax, grammer, and other such works we read to help us garner insight into the history, content, and understanding of the Holy Word of God. It is my belief that the book of Jubilees and the book of Enoch are two of the most important non-canon books available for Christians to read and study. I would add that both of these books are referenced in the Holy Bible to bear witness to the God inspired writings of the Old Testament. Jubilees is hard to put down, cover to cover a very easy, informative, and interesting read. Congratulations on a brilliant job translating and editing this very important work.

This is one of the books referenced in the Scriptures. It was not included in the Bible, but contains much interesting material about times not elaborated on in the Scriptures. It contains history presented in terms of the jubilee which is a period of 50 years. I was glad that I bought this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good for Theological Study, April 22, 2010

This review is from: The Book of Jubilees; The Little Genesis, The Apocalypse of Moses (Paperback)
At first when I picked up this book, I mistook it for one of the lost books of the Bible referenced by canon, such as the Book of Jasher. However, as it turns out, this was even better. This book is a rabbinical Midrash, probably written around the second century B.C./B.C.E. Because it is a Midrash, we see through this book how many of the religious leaders before the time of Christ rationalized certain questions that were left unanswered in Genesis, such as the name of Cain's wife and who she is, an additional explanation why Jacob was favored to inherit God's covenant over Esau, as well as a deeper explanation of the beginning of Genesis 6 that is elaborated upon in the Book of Enoch.

This last explanation was helpful in current study I am doing about the Nephilim and that the sons of God mentioned in Genesis 6 were in fact angels and not the sons of Seth intermarrying with the daughters of Cain, as some commentators over the centuries have said.

This book is great for theological study on the basis that we see the evolution of theology in the Jewish community as well as the Christian community who had also used this book as a reference during the early years of the movement. However, because this is not revered as canonical Scripture by Jews or Christians today, if you are going to study this on a theological level, just make sure that you study it within proper context.

4.0 out of 5 stars Closes the gaps of the Books of Moses., September 17, 2010

This review is from: The Book of Jubilees; The Little Genesis, The Apocalypse of Moses (Paperback)
This book is easy to read in modern English. The Book of Jubilees was dictated to Moses on Mount Sinai while Moses was receiving the the 10 Commandments. After God gave the commandments, He left and Angle to dictate the actual history from creation to the 50th Jubilee. This Lost Book answers a lot of question a person may have, and most likely more accurate than any other Lost Books because Moses wrote the history of all 50 Jubilees. Most of the Lost Books were penned around the First Century, so I believe the Book of Jubilees is more accurate. It is a great book for a person who is seeking answers to questions or for truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Book of Jubilees., July 8, 2007
This review is from: The Book of Jubilees; The Little Genesis, The Apocalypse of Moses (Paperback)
I found the book interesting and very comparable to the Old Testiment versions of events. The insights I gained regarding Jewish traditions surrounding the events in Genesis was worth the read.
