Great Way to Escape - Wonderfully Romantic and Fun Reading,
By
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
I haven't enjoyed a Lori Foster tale so much since her book "Wild". In "Jude's Law" we get heaps of heart melting romance, villianous bad guys and even some comic relief. Throw that all together and readers get fantastic characters to read about, both main and suporting alike. The bright, eye-catching cover drew me in at first, but the story itself blew me away.
Jude Jamison is Hollywood's ultimate bad boy. Loved by few, he's mainly shunned by those he used to call friends. A tragic accident involving a young starlet turned his fame to infamy when he was arrested for her death. Acquited, drained by the sordid life of Hollywood, he seeks refuge in Stillbrook, Ohio, and he hopes to find the one thing that his old glitzy life never did - love. May Price is a sensible art gallery owner, trying to stay afloat when into her life walks the gorgeous, breath-taking Jude. Upon meeting her, Jude knows he wants her. Tird of the skinny, fluffy-headed women that used to clog his life, he's more than ready for May's generous curves and open honesty. Prepared to immediaely conquer the intriguing lady, he's stumped when he actually has to work for her affections. Every time he tries to get close, she blows him off or acts as if he's teasing. Soon Jude is pushed past the boiling point and he's ready to put all doubts of his interest in her to rest. Come hell or high water, he will make her his. Upon Jude's introduction into the story, it was blatantly obvious that he was no ordinary, run-of-the-mill hero. Jude happens to be a trained fighter in addition to a certifiable Hollywood hunk. His talents come in handy when May's brother is beaten and then charged with taking out Jude. Jude and May both are soon in for more than they bargained for as they try to solve the mystery of who wants Jude killed. Thankfully, they still find plenty of time to explore their passionate relationship. Several supporting characters add humor and depth to the story and there are even a few twists I didn't see coming. Foster does an excellent job of drawing readers into "Jude's Law", eliciting our caring and feelings for the characters. I sincerely hope that we will be seeing more books for some of the supporting characters in this one (Checked the authors website and it turns out we will be seeing another story entitled "Murphey's Law" due out October '06 I believe). Five stars and more for Foster's latest masterpiece.

A Complex Read Worth Picking Up!!!,
By
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
Ms. Foster's latest "Jude's Law" is a wonderfully complex read that faithful fans have been waiting for. Despite the fact that the start of the read is light and humorous, the truth is this story tackles some very important issues while at the same time entertaining with a romance that defies description.
Jude Jamison is trying to get on with his life after his acquittal of murder and he's decided to move to Stillbrook, Ohio to get a fresh start. He's looking for something and isn't sure what it is-until he sets eyes on May Price. She is everything that's good and pure in life. She's honest, hard working, and sweet. The one thing she fails at is dressing. Her choice of wardrobe leaves a lot to be desired. She had curves where a woman should have curves and Jude wants to get his hands on those curves more than he wants his next breath. Too bad May's so stubborn. May has lusted after Jude from the first. She thinks his flirtations and comments are just a way to pass time while staying in Stillbrook. But, this is a problem because she wants to believe he wants her. Since her life is not a bed of roses with a mother who'd rather stay pickled with drink, a father that likes to chase skirts, and a younger brother who refuses to accept responsibilities for his actions, Jude, offers her a fantasy she doesn't want to ignore. So when one thing leads to another-May finds herself spending time with Jude, getting to know him...and coming to terms with what she truly wants...Jude. But, will she be strong enough to take what she wants or will her happy ending get away from her? This story will grab you from the beginning. Ms. Foster has created some wonderful secondary characters such as Ashley, and Denny that truly add to this story. May and Jude are a wonderful pairing and their romance is by turns hot and sweet and their conflict with family is truly believable and one that most can relate too. This funny, sweet, tender, hot read is just another perfect example of Ms. Foster's talented writing and one I highly recommend!

This is one law you should probably just ignore...,

This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
The `gorgeous, rich guy falls for plain Jane' storyline is a Romance novel staple. The whole concept may be a little far-fetched, but when it's done well it makes for a sweet and satisfying read. This is not one of those.
The book starts with Jude Jamison, handsome actor and `ultimate fighter', in self-imposed exile in rural Ohio. He is completely obsessed by `curvy' May Price, a local gallery owner. Now why exactly is Jude so taken with May? Is it her unflattering, frumpy clothes, her ill-fitting glasses that are always crooked or falling off her face? Maybe it's the way she can barely string together half a dozen intelligent words whenever he speaks to her. It must be the way she allows her cruel and unfeeling family to walk all over her without standing up for herself. It's as if the author was afraid the character would lose her `underdog' status if she was given any attractive qualities. One of my biggest issues with this book was the way nothing is "shown"; we don't see Jude fall for May, he's obsessed with her and devoted to her from page one. As for Jude, well he's perfect. The kind of perfect man that exists only in the over-active imagination of an adolescent girl. Handsome, famous, sexy, brave, rich...the list goes on and on. Nope, Jude has no flaws whatsoever - nothing to make him even remotely interesting. The plot is utterly ridiculous, involving a gangster type who is out to get Jude and uses May's whiny, alcoholic (and completely unlikable) brother to gain access. The whole story takes place over roughly a 48 hour period in Jude's palatial home out in the middle of nowhere. The lavish house and its belongings are described in boring detail, just in case you forgot that Jude is rich with a capital "R". To top it off, the dialogue is awkward and unrealistic. I will say that the sex scenes were well done: straightforward and explicit, almost out of place in this otherwise saccharine- laced book. But even great sex can't fix everything and this one is beyond repair.

Wickedly HOT,
By Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
Jude's Law by Lori Foster is an absolute gem. This book is outrageous funny, emotional and of course all out hot.
Jude Jamison has left the limelight of the SBC fighting world and Hollywood to live in quiet Stillbrook Ohio. He gets immense pleasure in visiting May Price at the art gallery she owns. May is so different from those ultra thin starlets, she has the curves of a real woman. Jude can't get her lush body out of his mind. Jude's light banter and teasing has not made much headway into getting May to see him as more then a customer. It's time to turn the heat up a few notches. May Price loves owning her art gallery. It gives her the security and confidence that she never had while growing up. To say her family is dysfunctional is an understatement. May loves and accepts herself as she is, but she has a difficult time seeing herself as Jude says he sees her. Can this devastating attractive man really see her as a hot sexy woman? When May's younger brother Tim gets himself in dangerous situation she turns to Jude for help. Once Jude starts to dig deeper into the problems Tim has gotten himself into, he realizes May is in danger as well. Plus after he meets her less then stellar parents, Jude's protective nature comes out in full force. Getting to the bottom of threats against May's family and keeping her safe might be easier then getting her to believe that he wants to have a future with her. Lori Foster yet again delivers a first-rate story of love, family and commitment. Jude is not your usual hero, his livelihood is not your typical 9 to 5 job. He uses his brains as well as his brawn will equal success in both. When he turns up the heat it practically sets the pages on fire. May is a strong, intelligent and unique heroine, she doesn't bemoan that she isn't a size 2 she embraces her womanly curves. Watching May's reaction to Jude's seduction is priceless. This couple was a pleasure to see their relationship grow through out the book. It's another Foster keeper.

Another Winner,

This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
Actor Jude Jamison has been in love with Stillbrook, Ohio native May Price since he moved to the small town some months ago. Jude has moved to the small town to get out of the limelight following some recent traumatic events in his life. He needs to get his life back under control and figures Stillbrook is the perfect place to do this. The last thing he expected was to meet someone like May develop such a strong attraction to her. If he could just convince May of his sincere feelings for her then all would be right in his world. This proves to be a very tough challenge though as May takes his flirtation as a joke and doesn't see what someone like Jude could possibly see in her.
May Price is an average women who lives in a small average town. She works for the local realtor and also runs an art gallery that she opened recently due to her love of art. Stillbrook Ohio might not be the best place for an art gallery though as May soon finds out. Celebrity Jude Jamison and his love of fine art and need to furnish his new home is the only thing that is keeping May's gallery afloat. When May's brother Tim shows up at her front door beaten to a pulp and claiming he needs help to repay a $50,000 gambling debt May goes to Jude for help. Jude moves May, Tim and her friend Ashley to his estate to keep them safe. Now that he has May in his house will he be able to convince her of his true feelings for her and get her where he longs for her to be, in his bed as well? Foster fans have eagerly awaited another full-length novel from this talented author since last June's amazing Jamie. Jude's Law was defiantly worth the wait. May and Jude are charming characters who share an intense chemistry and will surely become reader favorites. An interesting plot and several secondary characters help round out this story nicely. One of Ms. Foster's greatest strengths is her ability to draw her readers into the lives of her characters and make them feel a part of the story. She creates stories that are hard not to finish in one setting. Jude's Law is defiantly such a story and will not disappoint. Ms Foster has hit the mark once again with a fabulous offering guaranteed to heat up your cold winter nights. Jude's Law is sure to earn Ms. Foster another trip to the bestseller lists and leave her readers eager for more.

I'd Live With Jude's Law,
By Desiree (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
May Price is an art gallery owner...and Jude Jamison,a former actor and star of the SBC wants nothing more than to have May's curvy body in his arms.
May and Jude start out as friends,he being the main buyer of the art in her gallery...but when her brother,Tim,gets himself into trouble that even May can't help him with, she turns to the one person she knows can help: Jude Jamison. This is the first time I've ever read anything by Ms. Foster and I loved this novel immensely. I could feel the heat from Jude and May coming off the pages in waves. I related so much to May and her body issues...but they didn't overshadow her character,it just gave insight into a piece of who she is. Jude could come off as pushy sometimes but he did everything out of love. I loved him as a character and if he were a real, live man I'd be in so much trouble. Her secondary characters make the story even better...you have Denny, the rough-around-the-edges-yet-soft-hearted right hand man of Jude's. Ashley, the fiercely independent best friend who loves May more than life...and of course,Tim,May's brother who's had everything handed to him without the thought of consequences. This novel is filled with action, love, and a little twist. I recommend this novel and I'm definitely gonna read more books written by Lori Foster from now on.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
I bought this book after all the positive reviews it received, but after attempting to read it I feel like maybe I'm missing something. I say attempt because by the time I got to the middle of the book, I literally couldn't take it anymore. I never stop reading a novel once I start especially when I'm this far along, but I couldn't bear another minute of reading this crap. The dialogue screamed of trashy romance novels, the characters were banal and irritating, the plot was supposed to be suspenseful but it just came off as contrived.
I wanted to throw the book in the garbage but since I bought it, I figured I at least owed it to myself to find out the ending. I skimmed the pages to find out what happens at the end and I was happy I didn't waste my time reading it until the end. Don't waste your time buying this book. As a matter of fact, I'll give my copy away for free on a first come basis, just pay for shipping.

Ultimate "Bad Boy" Meets Romantic Suspense,
By
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
Lori Foster's newest release, JUDE'S LAW, is a delicious "bad boy finds true love" novel with an element of romantic suspense. The hero, Jude Jamison, is an Ultimate Fighting Championship-style sports star who becomes a hot property in Hollywood - only to be accused of a murder he didn't commit. Although legally cleared of the murder, he isn't free of suspicion and retreats to a small Ohio town for some peace and privacy. He meets the heroine, May Price, whose lush, "real woman" curves are irresistible. But she needs some serious convincing to believe Jude is interested in her, and her brother is entangled in a loan-shark-like mess that could get Jude killed.
It's always fun to watch Foster's Alpha male heroes pursue and win their soul mates, and, as always, Foster's love scenes are incendiary. Violent thugs and the threat against Jude make for an interesting subplot in which May's brother Tim has to grow emotionally to face his responsibilities - with the help of Jude's remarkable former trainer, Denny. And Ashley, May's best friend, is a wonderful secondary character who gets her own story in Murphy's Law, a book that is out later this year. I look forward to this sequel.

A delightful keeper - sexy, hot and wonderful!,
By Stacy ~ "book lover" (Chicago 'burbs) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jude's Law (The Law Duology, Book 1) (Paperback)
Lori Foster tells wonderfully heartwarming and sexy stories rich with earthy alpha heroes and the strong, tenderhearted women that love them. Another of Foster's trademarks is the emphasis on the importance of family, no matter how unconventional that family may be. It is one of my favorite things about her stories. "Jude's Law" is no exception.
Former SBC fighter and famous actor Jude Jamison now resides in Stillbrook, Ohio, where he's found a woman who he can't get out of his mind. May Price is that woman. She drives him crazy - with lust. But she refuses to have anything to do with him. Jude is frustrated by May's rejection. He can't figure it out - is it because of his scandalous past? His Hollywood lifestyle and all the photographers that follow him around? He doesn't think he can stand it anymore. How can she really believe they're just friends when all he can think about is her ample curves and taking her to bed? May has a lot on her plate with owning her own art gallery and taking care of the family that doesn't appreciate her like they should. She can't believe that anyone as sexy and as famous as Jude could be interested in someone like her, but that doesn't mean she's not interested. In fact, May is very attracted to Jude, but knows that she cannot let her heart be broken. So she rejects his advances. Repeatedly. Then something happens that May knows she can't handle on her own, so she turns to the one person who can help: Jude. As upset as he is by May's rejection, he can't force himself to turn her away when she comes to him for help. He adores her soft brown eyes, her lush and full figure, her honesty, the way she really sees him, not the movie star. Circumstances have May moving into Jude's fortress of a house, where they able to learn more about each other and the threat that has put them all in danger. Dealing with the threat together, and letting each other see how they truly are opens their eyes and their hearts as they fall in love and realize that they can have a future together - one filled with love, laughter, and family. Despite Jude's rather unique occupation, this story is written in such a way that you will totally believe a movie star can fall in love with a small-town woman with a generous heart. Jude may be gorgeous, but he has honor, discipline, and loyalty to those he cares about. May is a full-figured woman who doesn't apologize for her appearance - she's not willing to sacrifice her pleasures so she can look like a walking skeleton. In this day and age where young women are getting smaller and smaller, it's a welcome and much needed change to find a positive role model who accepts who she is. I applaud Lori Foster's portrayal of May and am glad she didn't turn her into a shrinking violet, but instead shows us how strong and resilient and caring she truly is, and how she embraces her sexuality when she and Jude finally do give into their mutual attraction. Their love scenes are very hot and sensuous, and the intimacy they share brings them closer together emotionally, which makes it an even sexier read. Despite the current trends in publishing today, Lori Foster knows that nothing is hotter than romance in a relationship, and she excels at it. One of many highlights in this story is the acerbic and hilarious character of Denny, a former SBC trainer and Jude's employee. Then there's the hint we see of the future romance for May's best friend Ashley and a a tantalizing mystery that is bound to affect the people in Stillbrook. You will just have to read "Jude's Law" to see what that might be. Lori breaks a lot of stereotypes in this book, such as those about fighters, actors, weight, and family. It is a refreshing story that you will want to read again and again. |
