Book Description

Can these two opposites attract their own happily-ever-after?

After years on the rodeo circuit, barrel racer, Kinley Taylor learns she has inherited Laid Back Ranch in Salvation, Texas from an aunt she barely remembers. But her dreams of owning a ranch are ground into dust when she discovers the ranch is a run-down trailer park and llama farm. If she accepts the inheritance, she must repair the trailers and farm according to the court ruling by sexy, local judge, Linc McCord and ask for his help. Kinley believes in taking risks especially with her heart, but will this steadfast cowboy turn out to be her biggest risk of all?

After experiencing first-hand how kids without guidance and protection can spiral out of control, Linc wants nothing more than to give at-risk kids a real chance at a better life rather than just handing down a ruling. The last thing he needs in his life is a sassy out of control red-head like Kinley Taylor. Linc likes his life easy and predictable, but Kinley’s take-life-by-the-horns attitude tempts him to take risks right along with her and convinces him to allow an at-risk kid to live and help out on the ranch. Worst of all, she is enticing him to risk his heart as well. If he allows his feelings to grow, his life will never be the same but resisting her may prove impossible.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read, lobved it December 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this story. Our hero is a cowboy, a judge in a small town that gives up the bench to run his ranch. He wants to help troubled youths and works as an attorney to do just that. The heroine is a champion barrel racing cowgirl. In this same small town, she inherits the property of her aunt. It is a run down trailer park with a few horses and llamas. She has her work cut out for her. This heroine is a smart, capable young woman, somewhat of a free spirit. He is a bit uptight and straight laced. They make an unlikely pair.

There is a 14 year old boy desperately in need of a home and love and he steals her heart. This story brings them all together. I really liked it for that reason. The story was about them, their emotions, their coming together. There was no bad guy, no villain, etc. Just their story. In a couple of places, it brings tears to your eyes, lots of places you laugh out loud. It was a great read, very entertaining and I really, really enjoyed it. I recommend it, you will be glad you tried it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book December 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was the first book of Cheryl's I have read and I loved it. It was the story of Linc a ranch owner and Kinley a barrel racer who inherited her aunts trailer park and her llimas. Kinley decides she wants to settle down so she starts to repair the trailer park and the buildings so she can keep it. Linc is trying to help her restore it also. He is a judge in the county where they live and he brings a fourteen yr old boy who is in trouble to help Kinley with her ranch. They quickly start to become special to each other . Ethan is the young boy and Kinley gives her heart to him willingly. She also starts to care for Linc, but he guards his heart very closely. A few things happen at the ranch to make Linc realize he could loose them both. This is a great story

3.0 out of 5 stars Light, heartwarming romance December 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This romance is a very light read -- there is no peril (other than a flash flood scene), no "bad guys," and no major drama, just two characters learning to love each other (and in Linc's case, accept himself).

I liked the story and the ranch setting, though the author had a tendency to dump huge amounts of information during the sections from his POV instead of just letting us learn about him naturally.

Recommended for fans of modern cowboy romances, "opposites attract" romances, or emotionally guarded men learning to love.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice easy read June 16, 2014
By Deborah
Format:Kindle Edition
Kinley Taylor is a championship barrel racer and she's just inherited a ranch, well it's not exactly a ranch more a collection of broken down trailers and some Llamas but it's her new home and she's determined to make a go of it. Kinley tries to make the most of life and loves a challenge but it could be that Linc McCord from the ranch next door is a challenge that's just too big. Despite the attraction that flares between them Linc fights against it, not wanting to lose his heart or control of his life.
This is a nice sweet romantic read, it has some good characters I particularly liked Ethan but they're all good. There's no villain, violence or sex it's just a nice simple romance. If I was being critical I'd say that I didn't fully understand Lincs reluctance and I wasn't completely sold on his reasoning, it felt a little contrived but it's well worth a read especially since it's free.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring
Boring. This book was very predictable and just boring. There's your typical excentric girl trying to snag the down to earth judge. It was predictable and boring.
