Jerrod Niemann may be a fresh voice on the country airwaves but this Kansas native has already been making a name for himself, both as a performer and a respected songwriter, best known for co-writing Garth Brooks' #1 hit "Good Ride Cowboy". Jerrod's creative style is very much his own, blending traditional roots with a contemporary edge, together with unconventional elements for an album that he describes as "deliciously diverse." For his upcoming major label debut, Jerrod found inspiration from his long-time friend and fellow recording artist,Jamey Johnson, who encouraged him to make a record that really meant something to him.
The resulting music is Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury. With his first single "Lover, Lover," he has become the first new male artist to break into the Top 30 of the Billboard Country singles chart in under 6 weeks since 2006.

The album has no real style, and it seems as if he needs to find a vision for what he wants to be. The songs jump from light alternative to pop to country and then back to pop... all with annoying intro/outro tracks between many of the songs.

Don't buy the whole album. You're better off downloading just a few songs:

Lover, Lover (which I'm sure you already know)

He has two very catchy singles on country radio, but I wouldn't mind if he faded off the radar.

Having heard the last half of "Lover, Lover" on the radio completely by accident (I rarely leave a country station on for more than 2 seconds), I became hooked and made it a point to find out who this artist was and hear more. I even contacted the local country radio station to help me find out the name of the tune and the artist (I had no idea about either). It took literally seconds for the radio station to advise me. I went out and bought it immediately. It is now one of my favorite albums/cd's, and "Lover, Lover" is worth the price of admission. It is a uniquely done album/cd - there is an intro, an intermission, and some talking bits that become overly "cute" after the 2nd or 3rd listen, plus a song that (to me) should have been a throwaway ("They Should Have Named You Cocaine"). Otherwise, the songs are strong and fun, and I highly recommend it. This is a talented guy.

I love this man's voice! There are several great songs on this CD, my two favorites being "Lover, Lover," and "What Do You Want?" I would give this CD 5 stars, but the talking between tracks is somewhat annoying. That's just my opinion. The music is awesome!
