Book Description

Praise for JUDGMENT TRAMP:
"From the first paragraph, you are hooked . . . characters are strong, realistic, and story line drags you right into the pages. Thrills, chills, a little romance, and great attention to detail. Could not put my Kindle down - stayed up til 3 am reading so I could find out what happens to everyone!"~Debra Field

"Things are rarely what they appear to be in this deftly written novel of intrigue and judgment. Eb is a wonderful character, masculine yet real, dealing with real human challenges, trying to find inner peace in a world writhing with turmoil and hidden and half truths. The ending is powerful and, like the rest of the book, complicated and satisfying.
" ~Martha Bryce

Ex-Army helicopter pilot Eb McLean is struggling to deal with his emotional scars and return to civilian life, but a sudden explosion and vicious murder throw him back into another kind of war. Now his sister Maggie's car is burning in front of their restaurant and hardened FBI agent Nick Kavadas wants to nail Eb for the crime. Eb finds himself in a race against time to find the real killer and peel back the layers of deceit and lies which threaten to destroy everything he holds dear. But whom can he trust? ATF Special Agent Danielle Ricci, who may be harboring a secret of her own? The sexy, but deadly, Imme Amoud? Or could his involvement with her be a fatal attraction? In the frantic hunt for the killer Eb is forced to confront his own tortured past.

"And I felt the ground move under my feet, and I thought it was the Judgment Tramp of The Almighty, finally come to visit those who had started this terrible war...."~ From the diary of a Union soldier with the 4th Michigan Regiment

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for #3! January 26, 2012

This author has hit another one out of the ballpark. From the first paragraph, you are hooked . . . characters are strong, realistic, and story line drags you right into the pages. Thrills, chills, a little romance, and great attention to detail. Could not put my Kindle down - stayed up til 3 am reading so I could find out what happens to everyone! Kudos to the author - this one would make a great movie! Anxious to see where Eb ends up next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Complex and Satisfying March 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Eb Maclean is an immensely troubled, terribly angry former Army helicopter pilot. He's very judgmental, a strong, attractive man whose relationships are all with women. He is attracted to strong women: his half sister Maggie is a former FBI agent who now runs the restaurant whose ownership she shares with Eb. His girlfriend Sarah is a gorgeous Barbie doll blonde, with a PhD in psychology who is, oddly enough, working in the restaurant. Eb is going to fire her from the restaurant because she is totally inept in a kitchen, serving or even hostessing.
This close but unlikely trio is drawn into a web of deceit and danger when Maggie's car is blown up outside the restaurant, killing a local farmer who supplies produce to the restaurant. Both the FBI and the ATF are drawn into the investigation. The FBI agent is a pain but the ATF agent, Danielle is a great looking, powerful woman, exactly Eb's type but there are a couple of complications. The first is that the detonator for the car bomb is the cell phone found in Eb's pocket and the other complication is even more Machiavellian and revealed later in the book. Although Sarah dumps Eb because he is emotionally so closed down from his war experiences, she is still in love with him and integral to the story.
The web of intrigue widens as Eb realizes that his sister has not been truthful about leaving the FBI and some other very important issues. He is drawn into the investigation as Maggie is first arrested and then disappears. Additional familial ties are revealed that may be pertinent to the explosion and another murder that occurs. We see flashes of Eb's legendary temper as he tries to deal with the emotional turmoil of his sister's disappearance, the loss of his girlfriend, and his inability to cope with any strong emotion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced Action Adventure February 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This fast-paced action adventure has lots of surprising twists and turns. It is well written, with compelling characters, unexpected relationships, and glimpses of humor throughout. The story line really held my interest...just when you think you have it all figured out, something changes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to Eb's next adventure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Women troubles March 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A man who is shuttled around his life by the women who surround him describes main character Eb Maclean. He has a twisted relationship with his sister Maggie that becomes more convoluted when she is accused of murder. Each woman who shows up in this story brings out more undesirable characteristics in our main character.

I found it hard to get involved with the story. There is plenty of action and intrigue, but the characters failed to have any redeeming qualities, in my opinion. There are bad tempers all around with caustic and toxic interactions.

Overall, I felt the story bit off more than it could chew. I wasn't really entertained and felt annoyed with the flippant use cursing. It's a good start and has the potential to be a great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eb Maclean a guy I would like to have as a friend February 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
So often books of mystery and intrigue are fun, but not very realistic. Eb Maclean and the other characters in this story are very real, and don't shoot guns that never run out of bullets. Once I started reading the book was it was hard to put down, you just had to find out why a person was doing something, or why did this happen to that person. And it was always a surprise why the chain of events took you to this new place. Eb and the other characters are very real, but you are always a little uneasy about who they really are or what they are hiding. I am looking forward to the next Eb Maclean book to see where his life takes us.

While I'd never read any previous Eb McLean novels, I decided to give it a try anyhow because of the description and positive reviews, and I'm so glad I did!

I couldn't put this down. I was a bit worried about feeling lost for lack of character knowledge, but the author did a great job weaving in just enough back-story about each character at just the right times. I never felt lost, nor did I feel as though character history was being crammed down my throat in a way that detracted from the story, or wasn't in sync with the tense of the story. Those things have usually turned me off of reading books that are part of a series without starting at the very beginning.

This is a great thriller read and I'll definitely be reading more from this series, and more from this obviously talented author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting edge of the seat mystery January 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The characters were interesting and believably flawed. The suspense was tight and didn't prolong. You cared about the main characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ex-soldier confronts a war in the States August 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
JoeDanDonigi

A fun thrill ride where almost nothing is what it seems, a car bomb goes off, not in Iraq but in front of Eb Maclean's restaurant in the States. Eb doesn't know who to trust as he visits an ATF special agent Danielle Ricci and a Canadian-Arab Imme Aroud? They each seem to have their own agendas and secrets including Eb's family secrets. A highly recommended fun read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little confusing
Maybe it's because I didn't read any of Eb MacLean before this one, but I was confused several times during the read. Not sure I'll try any of the others.
