1.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent? I think not., May 29, 2002
This review is from: Judo with Words : An Intelligent Way to Counter Verbal Attacks (Paperback)
I have experienced some fairly disappointing reads in my time, but this has to be the greatest let down of them all. I would describe this book as being vague, boringly repetitive, and impractical. The theoretical approach which this book assumes may well have good intentions of helping the reader, as it proposes to be a self-help instrument, but simply does not measure up to its promise. Furthermore, I would have to say that this book would only seem to be of any worth if only one lived in a simple world with simple situations, with simple solutions - such is not the case. Having said this, I believe it would be wise to avoid this book if one is searching for serious insight into serious predicaments...to learn to defend oneself verbally in a potetnially volatile situation is what I ventured out to do. Unfortunately, I regret to say that all this book has done is further frustrate my research and provide me with little else than an empty money purse and a fantastic shelf filler.
