I am very surprised that no one reviewed this excellent disc yet. I have several other titles by Gene Ammons and they are all very good.A few words about sound quality. This Rudy Van Gelder recording benefits from fine K2 mastering (solid state), but cannot compete with Analogue Productions "Gentle Jug" tube mastered gold disc - that one is the best sounding Gene Ammons CD I own and one of my favourite jazz CD's. Also, any of the discs mentioned easily outperforms all 5 titles from the Blue Note RVG series that I have - in terms of sonics, that is. Please remember that I am only comparing stuff recorded in the same studio.
