4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific backstop
This hitting screen works very well for such a portable screen, and the SportsRUs price is a good value. The construction is high quality. The refolding process takes some getting used to, but works fine once you've done it a few times. The best part of this screen is that there is nothing to set up once it's opened! You just pull on 2 straps quickly and it's ready to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed
In all I don't regret purchasing the screen, however, I was surprised at how difficult it is to fold back down. My daughter is 13 and has to have help putting the net away. I was fearful of pushing the sides down too hard and breaking it, but it finally gives with continued considerable pressure. The ease of set up is great and she doesn't have to struggle with the...

You just pull on 2 straps quickly and it's ready to use! It comes with some stakes, but I've never used them. I suppose they might be helpful in strong winds. The case and handles work well for over the shoulder carrying. Overall, a very good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item for Backyard Practice, May 1, 2006
By
My 6 and 10 year old boys use this backstop regularly. They put the batting-T in front and hit hard balls into the net, then use it behind them as a ball-catch for hitting pitches(sponge balls.) It has a red square strike zone that helps the pitcher find the strike zone, and when facing the net, provides a target for the hitter. It pops open with great force so be carefull when you set it up the first time. My 10 yr. old folds it and puts it away for us. This is a quality product and an essential piece of training equipment for any age. We like the Jugs machine balls for use in the backyard. They are dense yellow sponge with the correct size, weight and seam. Unlike regular training balls, we have not broken a window with them yet.

Very nice piece of equipment without being bulky. It feels like a solid piece of equipment that will last.

Quick to setup and take down. Base is held down by metal pegs. Setup is a snap. Take down needs to be practiced. Watching the video on the JUGS website clears everything up.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the one..., January 18, 2007

This is the same net coaches use for temporary practice sites....away games, travelling, etc. Set up couldn't be easier - toss it in the air, and its spring-metal hoops do the rest. It is a little tougher to fold, but by the second or third time we had it figured out. My kid loves it (Little League, AAU, age-12) because he can set it up anywhere in our yard to hit a bucket of balls; no more wrecked fences; no more chasing balls at the field! If this net meets your price range, it's the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars hitting in texas, December 30, 2009

I bought this product for some work when the weather keeps us inside. It has been very effective in our garage due to the rainy days of winter in texas. I would recommend this product to keep a hitters swing consistent and to get some extra reps.

This is the second one of these nets that I have purchased. It is a great tool for my son to use. I am not always at home when he is, and this allows him to pitch, throw, and hit all by himself. It is easy to use, lightweight enough for anyone to carry, and very durable. Jugs makes some really great products.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential equipment, November 28, 2011

I've had one of these for about 5 years and it's great. can bring it to tournaments or anywhere for that matter-easy open, easy put away-but I can't see a kid doing it. I use it for softball pitching, hitting or as a backstop. have used it indoors in the off-season and have used it outdoors in windy situations with the stakes. when doing soft toss, younger girls will often hit the ball over it so you may have to use whiffleballs for those kids (especially indoors)even off a tee, young kids will think it's funny to hit the ball over the net-so you still need to supervise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practice makes perfect, and this is perfect., September 11, 2011
This review is from: Jugs Instant Screen (Sports)
I'll keep this short and sweet: the Jugs Instant Screen offers the reliability and quality you need to practice, day in and day out, without worrying about your screen aging, breaking or otherwise not working.

I used this net to train for baseball at the high school and college level, and I know that even a lot of minor league organizations use these nets when time/space constraints are present. I probably practiced at least 350 days a year and used this on many, many days. Let me just say: this net lasted longer than my baseball career (a reflection on my potential, not the net itself).

The way this net sets up is quick and easy, and even after years of use, it sprung up fast and tall, no leaning, no problems, etc. I used this with a tee and with soft toss, and the net was ideal for both. The red square at the center allows you to aim your hitting, and it's even great for pitchers who want to pitch without a catcher. I also found that during live batting practice, it was great to have as a substitute for the catcher.

All in all, I have nothing negative to say about this net. It would be a useful tool for any player, team or school looking to improve their batting and overall play. My advice for those who do get it, however, is to keep it out of adverse weather; I believe this could, over time, lead to the net and its parts deteriorating. Mine didn't do this but I've heard from other players that it happened to their own. This is a staple of any baseball training program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Purchase, September 6, 2011

My son was a high school pithcer when I purchased this product. I have used this product for 2+years and he is pitching in College. It has taken a lot of wear for pitching and some hitting. It has held up well with no tears. He does put it up every session so it does not stay outside in the weather. folds up in seconds once youve do it a few times.

Great training tool! Very portable and easy to set up and break down. I would recommend this training aid to anyone that is serious about their game. On raining days, I set it up in my garage and it works perfectly!
