First of all, those Juice Rechargeable Alkaline Batteries cannot be recharged using ordinary NiMH chargers - not even the Juice Battery Family Charger. You need either a special-purpose alkaline charger, or a multi-chemistry charger that can handle both NiMH and Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese (RAM) cells. For examples:
- Juice Multi-Battery Charger Kit, and
- Rayovac PS3 Universal Battery Charger (now discontinued)

On first glance, the concept of rechargeable alkaline cell sounds great, since it combines advantages from both ordinary alkaline cell (long shelf life, 1.5V terminal voltage) and rechargeable cell (multi-use). Unfortunately, it also inherited the biggest limitation of alkaline cell: high internal resistance. This makes it very inefficient when used in high-drain appliances such as digital camera or flash light. So it is only suitable for low-drain appliances such as wireless mouse, remote control, or smoke detector.

CAPACITY:
The manufacturer claims that a new Juice AA RAM cell has capacity of 2000mAh (tested with discharge current of 50mA down to 0.8V at 22 degree C). My own measurement using the

I purchased a special package deal of these batteries from another site, and don't want anyone else to be exposed to the same dangers my family and I were, so I am posting this review.

DO NOT purchase or use these batteries and chargers. The batteries may perform fairly well at first, but eventually, they WILL leak corrosive battery acid and/or explode. Fortunately, I was able to catch the rupture of the battery late one night as the batteries were charging - there was a pop and a hissing noise, which led me to look for the source - it was the battery acid escaping the battery and running down the wall from where the charger was plugged in. I have a small grandchild in the house - what if we hadn't caught this in time, and my grandchild had touched or ingested some of it?

This company needs to stop selling this defective product before someone is really hurt. I am not the only one that has had problems like this. The bad reviews are everywhere.

Verified Purchase
I purchased two packages of these in AA size. One battery exploded in the charger the first time I charged it. I have used 3 other brands of AA cells and have never had this happen.

Almost every one of the 24 batteries I purchased leaked. Even the ones that had never been used still in the package. Fortunately i caught it before it leaked so bad that the battery contacts in the device were ruined.

If you need rechargeable batteries go with the low self discharge nickel metal hydride technology like the Sanyo Eneloop or Rayovac hybrid. These have never let me down.
