For the first hour this game is fun. The AI does not scale for SH*T!. In the higher end classes, even sprinters with up to 1/3 less hp will own your ass; and forget about circuit racing.. competitors will bump and wreck your ass while YOU loose rep points, and cash having to repair your car. If you are curious about this title.. save your cash and pirate this sh*t, as it is not worth the money. I truly wish I had purchased chess or anything other than this tripe. Hey THQ, beta much?

This game could have been a good game 18 months ago, but now its flat. With the release of great games like Midnight Club 3, Forza Motorsport, Gran Tourismo 4, and Need For Speed Underground 2, this game doesnt hold water. The biggest problem is paying for the races. Some are free but as you progress the free races get harder to find. And if you have to pay for the race funds start to get low because you also have to pay for damages. I have no problem needing to repair your car and having to pay for it, but this game has more focus on budgeting money instead of developing a car and racing it. You put a team together and can get drivers to drive for you. Personally I want to drive much less have someone drive for me. I have no problem getting a "posse" together, but I WANNA DRIVE. The graphics are decent but not quite as good as Midnight Club 3 or Forza. There are just to many other racing games out there that offer just that little bit more to make a good game. Pass this game up for one of the other I have mentioned.

Being an avid gamer playing nearly all games that are being released these days, I was happy when I found another street race type game coming out. Having beat NFSU2 and being very happy with that product, I was hoping that this would stand up to it and even surpass it.
After all my friends were blah blahing aboutt the game being so good, I decided to go pick it up from the store. In a short little point form thinger, I will list why I think this game sucks. 1. Career mode is absolutely retarded. Cars that are way worse than yours will still rape you. 2. Respect points. OK. so when they slam into me, shouldn't they be losing respect from me? 3. The fact when you go broke, you are broke forever. 4. Racing your crewmates is ridiculous. All they do is make you lose money (which you cannot afford trust me) and respect like hell because they are so far behind at the end of the race its ridiculous. Vito slowed down to under 15 MPH through a turn once. Ridiculous. I haven't even really played the game much. But I ain't gonna be playing it much longer.

This game has had numerous delays including not having a publisher for over a year. It is late to market yet plays like it is 2 years old. Having tried *ALL* of the recent racing titles my favorite is still Need For Speed Underground 2. NFSU2 has its faults, but it is still the best of the bunch in this genre.

After playing Need For Speed this game is a waste of money. I have 2 good controllers and neither works well with this game. It took a couple of tries to load it on my computer (which is a year old Dell with specs that are way above what this game calls for)and it doesn't play well at all. NFS Underground 2 works great on my computer and I was surprised how bad this game is. I think they spent all their time on the graphics and none on making this a good game. I hope it is better on the game systems otherwise it should have never been put out.

Poorly Designed,

The only positive aspect of this game is the substantial number of cars. This is in comparison to, for example, Need for Speed Underground 2. However, this positive point is greatly overshadowed by the poor design decisions that made this game a stinker. I hope the engineers and managers that worked on this title read this, because they deserve a slap on the wrist. The artificial intelligence of the computer racers definitely does not scale to the difficulty level of the game. Once you've been playing career mode after a while, the computer essentially starts to race in a near perfect manner. Even if computer is driving a stock Celica with little to no modifications, that car will still beat your souped up CR-X with prototype level upgrades. The pink slip races are a joke, as there is almost no way for you to win. The physics are a joke as well. When you hit the tail of a computer vehicle, the computer vehicle never sways, and you end up spinning out and hitting the side rails. When you get hit by the computer, you lose control, spin out, and the computer overtakes you. On top of unrealistic and borderline absurd physics, the graphics are subpar at best. The motion blur effect of nitrous usage has a slight wow factor, but that's about it. Even with level 4 anti-aliasing turned on, the world detail jagged edges remain. In my opinion, the engineers and managers that wrote and designed this game need to be fired, because they did a horrible job of making a game that is way off-course in reflecting real world physics, and with difficulty levels that will make almost any player thrown down the control or punch the monitor with digust. Shame on you THQ, what a waste of my time and money.

My son is a big PC racing fan and has almost every racing game there is.
He said this game has a decent career mode. The car handling physics are pretty good and there is a wide variety of cars to choose from. We also play multiplayer mode over our local network (and you can play online but we usually don't) and it is actually one of the games I like to play. I use a driving wheel and my son uses the keyboard; both work well. Some elements of the game are a bit corny and seem targeted for younger kids but overall it's not a bad game especially given the price. He said the original Juiced game is also much better than the sequel.

My opinion of how fun the game is probably isn't fair to the game producer, because I have made considerable progress when playing on PS2. It plays well on my PC, and my PC isn't even close to being considered new. The only thing that I don't seem to like about the game is that there seems to be no end to it. You gain and lose respect constantly, and there is no title to be reached such as "Street King" or some other variant of that title.
This game isn't complex to understand or play. You start by racing 1 of the 8 street racing crew leaders to gain respect in the street racing community, and your various skills are observed by the leaders of the street racing crews. You gain the ability to watch them race, race with them, race them for their cars in a one-on-one race, and even host races on their streets (in that order) as you gain respect. You can lose respect, but that's usually only done by wrecking (into others - or barriers during showoffs), losing races, or losing bets. The use of each crew's streets costs a different amount, but the higher the cost of usage, the higher the reward for winning. The skills that are assessed are: -performance in circuit racing -performance in sprint (drag) racing -handling of your car (ability to do tricks without damage - showoffs) -performance of entire crew when racing -ability to design a respectable car -ability to build a valuable car collection -ability to win your bets -ability to win pink-slip races (take other people's cars) The key to being successful is to find the fastest car in each class. You can find it through trial and error. An example would be cars in Class 8, the lowest class in the game. The fastest car in Class 8 is the Honda Civic with level two intake, muffler, and turbo with the power-band downgraded to 199 horsepower. This is a real result in the game, by the way, but how could I possibly know that unless some experimentation was done? The faster your cars are, the more likely you are to win races (and other people's cars) and earn respect (duh? - you probably actually said that when you read that last statement). One of the hardest "skills" is performing in showoffs, because the cars handle differently. Front-wheel drive cars are hard to perform donuts in, because they have to be done in reverse, and the cars don't maintain perfect circles. I honestly don't want to write a bunch of statements that will detract from your gaming experience. This game doesn't cost much, so buy it if you think you're interested. Worst case scenario - you lose maybe $20 in purchasing and shipping, but you'll probably like it for at least the first 20 days of owning it anyway, so it's like paying $1/day or less. If you like it long-term like I do, then the amount reduces drastically over time (you can do your own math). Oh yeah...one more tip - if you're watching T.K. and Biggi in a class 1 sprint race, and one of them has a Viper and the other has a Corvette, ALWAYS bet on the Viper (even if the Corvette has more HP). This should help you build your budget. Well, I hope you like it if you buy it, and happy gaming! ~LJW~ |
