4.0 out of 5 stars Juicelady! YUMMY!
I bought the Juicelady a couple of months ago, and it works wonders. The engine is great, and shreads even the thickest of carrots with ease. The juicer extracts the juice, and lets you enjoy the yummy juice without any pulp of any kind. I love pulp, but man, this lady is a great juicelady! The only problem I have with this machine is the cleanup. The machine is quite...

2.0 out of 5 stars Wear Earplugs! Juicer is very LOUD!
I bought this juicer over 3 yrs ago because it had great reviews. But the reviews failed to tell me that this juicer is VERY LOUD (sounds like a motorcycle or construction) I have to wear earplugs each time and if you have young children taking a nap the sound of the motor will definitely wake them up!
It's also cumbersome. You have to cut vegetables/fruit if they...

The only problem I have with this machine is the cleanup. The machine is quite large. The worst part is cleaning the net container. Those who own this know what I'm talking about. I suggest you use a toothbrush when cleaning the net.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best juicer I've found, June 12, 2000
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
My mom got this as a gift and absolutely just loves it we juice all kinds of vegetables and fruits. The best is the watermelon rind and pineapple rind can be juiced to get all the vitamins and nutrition and doesn't slow the machine down it just keeps on juicing just like a professional juicer well it is compared to the cheap brands that usually break within a few months of daily usage. I like the stainless it is much more stain resistant than the white plastic models which tends to discolor from especially carrot juice which I absoulety love to drink everyday mixed with apple it's delicious. Juicing is very healthy for you increasing your energy level naturally so you can get more out of life plus live longer, also loose weight. This juicer should last quite a long time it's motor is quite powerful. Most of the time I don't bother peeling the skin of the fruits all I do is cut them up and feed them into the opening the rest is like magic. The pulp I also save to make carrot cake, meatballs with apple pulp, sauces and for my two labs they get treats I bake for them also carrot with broth ice bones which are kool treats. Salton is a great company and this is there top of the line model I'd say I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Juicer!, December 19, 2002
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
This is a great juicer for those who juice at least several times a week. We stepped up from a cheaper plastic model we had used for a couple of years, and I love that this is stainless steel. The spout stays much cleaner than plastic models. The 1/2 HP motor is excellent, and handles hard and soft fruits and vegetables equally well. We are extremely pleased with the quality of this model.

TIP: Line the "Pulp" container with a grocery-store plastic bag, and when you have finished juicing, you can just lift out the bag and throw it away!

5.0 out of 5 stars painless juicing, cont!, August 23, 2001

quiet, fast, good yield. It is relatively easy to clean with a vegetable scrubber. The construction seems very solid. I find the two speeds helpful and used low for softer fruits and high for hard vegetables as recommended and got a very good yield this way. There is less foam than I am used to from my old, department store juicer and the flavor is far superior. I just love it so far!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mom from Maine, April 30, 2002

This juicer is well worth every penny! It juices beautifully and clean up is SO easy, which is one thing I was leary about after reading some of the other reviews. When my juicer arrived I had forgotten to get a vegetable brush and didn't have a spare toothbrush so wasn't looking forward to the clean-up afterwards, but couldn't wait to try this juicer, so I went ahead and used it anyway! To my surprise and delight, a plain old dish cloth worked great!

I don't know this for a fact, of course, but I'm guessing that maybe the people that have had a hard time cleaning the basket have waited maybe a little to long to clean it??? I clean my juicer just as soon as we have had our juice, or drink my juice while cleaning (takes only 5-10 minutes start to finish and is well worth doing it right away!) Since the pulp is still wet it doesn't stick at all! If you wait until the pulp has dried, then you are in for a tougher cleaning job!

I have had this juicer for well over a year now and it still works and looks great! I honestly can't think of one thing about it that I don't like. My kids love helping me make the juice and love the taste of what comes out of it. I don't think they realize they are drinking something good for them!

P.S. I had a cheaper model and returned it for this one! I'm very glad I did!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great!, June 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
I just used this machine for the first time and chose it from its good reviews written here. I am glad I did. I was skeptical, but this is a definite bang for the buck. It's super easy to clean with a vegetable brush. The easiest I've ever had to clean. You can fit large carrots through it without cutting them thin -saving on time and aggravation. The white parts will stain, but any juicers white parts stain and there is a solution for this. The stainless steel shines great. My only complaint, the pulp is not as dry as I would like it. But it's better than the amount left with the cheap ones (and I've had my share). The only way to avoid wet pulp is to spend 500++ (My parents have a nice one)Middle of the line middle of the line pulp dryness. No vibration with my first time use, no pulp in the juice, and smooth running. To sum it up.....I'm glad I made the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Juicer, December 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
I bought the juicer a few months ago and I am so far very happy with it. Its incredible easy to clean which takes about 5 minutes. Its also incredibly easy to use. I have juiced apples, carrots, oranges and grapefruits, with no difficulty. I mix all these juices and drink it with ice. It is simply delicious, better than anything you could get at the supermarket. When I bought this item it was at a price of $129, I just saw it here at $89, which upsets me but for you new buyers I recommend to get it, especially at this cheaper price.

5.0 out of 5 stars On the road to healthy living, April 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
I am a person who is constantly on the go between work, school and family. I normally only get a chance to fast food, deli food and cafateria food. I eat very little vegetables but I was always eating plenty of junk food, starches and meats. I recently made the choice to make time out for taking better care of myself. Juicing is very simple, fast and it taste good too. The clean up is very easy and cleaning the pulp out of the basket became extremely simple once I started using my vegetable brush. I am sure a tooth brush would work also. All of the effort to clean is worth it since the heatlth benfits out weight the cons. In this world were are so much about instant everything that sometimes we complain about having to put the smallest amount of energy into doing anything. Forget about the small stuff and think of the big picture. Juicing is great and I don't know how I lived without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Juicelady JL500 Works As Advertised, January 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
Been juicing for 3 weeks with no problems.
Many benefits already realized (e.g., increased energy, etc.).
Unit appears to be well made and does the job!
Cleanup is fairly easy (5 parts to clean); however, may seem to be laborious if not committed to the daily regimen.
Note: Vegetable brush (preferred) or tooth brush is a must for cleaning one part (blades and screening).
Never had a juicer before so I can't compare with others.
Strongly recommend Jay Kordich's "Juiceman's Power of Juicing" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best kitchen purchases we have made, April 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Juicelady JL500 Pro Electric Juicer (Kitchen)
My husband & I love this juicer. Not too bulky for a home kitchen, reasonably quiet, great juicer. We use this appliance every day for carrots, oranges, grapefruit, wheatgrass, beets, whatever. It takes the hardest root veggies and makes quick work of the process. We would never go back to preprocessed grocery store juice again.

We substitute the remaining pulp in our favorite banana bread recipe to make fruit or vegetable breads (like carrot orange raisin bread) and other tasty goodies. Not much wasted here. A great buy for our dollar.
