I'd never buy anything else,
By Marcus T. Brody (Tampa Bay, FL) - See all my reviews

This juicer is a very high quality juicer at an extremely low price. I've used juicers that were $400 and more, and this one blows them all away, for several reasons. The main reason I love this blender so much is the ease of cleaning it. It takes a mere minute or two to clean this sucker, when I've spent 5 minutes cleaning other juicers. The Juiceman II also juices basically any vegetable you throw at it, unlike other juicers. I've had no problem juicing the toughest of greens like kale, and even wheatgrass, which some say you need to buy a seperate juicer for. Hogwash! The Juiceman II does it just fine. I'm on my second model, because the first one died after about 2 or 3 years of use. So it's pretty durable from my experience. The reason it died was I tried to juice a frozen banana, which is not recommended. Anyway, great model, and I'm glad I own one.

Not a durable machine,

My wife and I used our machine almost every day. We had problems with the motor on the first machine after about 6 months. The replacement machine tah was sent just started spitting out pieces of cooper wire recently, and has now died altogether. Salton won't replace it because it is beyond the ONE year warranty. 2 machines in less than 2 years. If they build such a great machine, why does it only have a 1 year warranty? Think about that before you buy. If you plan on owning a juicer for a long time, get one with a better warranty.

Juiceman II JM410 Juice Extractor,

I purchased 3 units - 2 for family members as gifts and 1 for my home. If you intend to prepare just 1 glass of juice, I do not recommend this machine. For multiple glasses over a period of time or for larger quantities, I highly recommend it. I find that it is easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble. I did read the easily followed instructions that are in the booklet provided and highly recommend that purchasers do so.

Too powerful for its own good,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Juiceman Electronic Professional Series 410 Elite Edition (Kitchen)
I bought this juicer because it is the most powerful that I could find and I planned to juice a lot of carrots, which is hard on the machine. At first I was very pleased but the lid developed 'melted' spots so Juiceman sent me another one for free. It seemed like with each use I would develop another 'weak' spot in the lid so I returned the entire machine and bought a Champion juicer instead, which so far I like. It is a masticating juicer (it takes the vegetable apart), wheras the juiceman II flings the juice around the machine which from what I understand oxidizes the juice and leaves it with less vitamins/minerals.

An affordable juicer that is expensive,

The Juiceman II juiced well as demonstrated in the informercial in its first year of use - easy to juice and clean. However, even though I didn't use the juicer regularly during the first year and would say I hardly used it in its first year, it was making too loud of noise and 'walked' on the tabletop in its 2nd/3rd year for safe operation. I probably used it less than 10 times, and I bought it for about [money] years ago...an expensive experiment. Also, with each use, the pulp is transformed from moist to wet pulp. I stopped using the juicer because I was wasting produce and not getting much juice. In addition, no one mentioned that the shredder/filter basket needed to be replaced. Replacing the filter basket periodically is a hidden cost to the juicer in addition to the low juice yield. Juice quality and yield are worth considering since juicing requires time, effort, and large quantities of produce, and all of them translate into - cost & money. For me, if I can't get at least 60% of nutrition from juicing, the juicing effort is futile because I am not getting enough nutritional benefits. Most online juicer distributors claim that high-speed continuous centrifugal juicers like Juiceman II produce lower quality juice that is oxidized due to greater surface exposure to oxygen and recommend buyers to consider slower masticating or twin-gear juicers for better juice quality. I have only come across one independent scientific study done on juicer and/or juice quality beyond copies of the same online advertising literature on vitamin and enzyme retention claims after several days of online research, so it's hard to know what type of juicer is an quality and cost-effective purchase. There is at least one scientific study that indicates that 'Peeling and juicing resulting in substantial losses of provitamin A, often surpassing those of heat treatment. The author also indicates that the stability of carotenoids differs in different foods, even if same storage or processing conditions are used, and that more studies need to be done on home vegetable/fruit processing. The added maintenance cost of a cheaper juicer may afford me a more 'expensive' juicer that will provide me the health benefits, if any, that is comparable in cost in the long-term. I am willing to pay for a juicer that will give me the nutritional benefits and not one that will send my produce to the compost and that requires added maintenance costs. I am not going to fix my Juiceman II, and I am investigating the value of buying a vegetable/fruit extractor.

A great product,

I've had a tough time making up my mind about a juice extractor. Juiceman is definitely the best option. It requires the least amount of maintenance, is easy to clean and produces good quality juice. Plus there isn't any additional cost in terms of parts/filters etc. I had heard Omega juicers were good as well, but they need disposable filters, so even though they cost about the same, you end up paying more eventually. Juiceman is great and as its name suggests, its meant for those serious about juicing!

Not as good as on TV!,
By Thomas (Alameda, CA USA) - See all my reviews

The juicer is extremely noisy. I don't know what they did to the one that he demonstrates with on the informercial, but I have to wear earplugs when use mine. Family has to leave the kitchen when I make juice. The unit vibrates so bad that the little rubber slash guard always falls into the juice. Unless you juice real slow, juice leaks all over the motor. In the informercial, he pushes carrots through there in a fraction of a second. The clean up is a nightmare with all the leaked juice... I thought the Juiceman would be faster and extract more juice. And you can't even get through to Salton. Several times, I've waited up to 20 minutes waiting to get through to someone. I just can't wait any longer listing to their recordings over and over!

We love it, even though....,

I bought my Juiceman with great hesitation because of the price, but my boyfriend loves it so much I know it was worth it. The only problem we had was that the blade wore down in less than a month and a half. At least that is what we concluded after calling the customer service and telling them that the blade quit spinning when we tried to juice. They sent a new one for free and it is working fine again. I'm curious if it is normal for the blade to wear down so fast. We do juice a lot of carrots though, and that is one hard veggie.

I enjoy using this machine. Due to digestion problems, it is imperative for me to be juicing as much as possible. The Juiceman is the only juicer I have used. The cutter/screen is very fine and the juice is extremely pulp free. Occasionally the pulp may build up unbalanced in the cutter/screen and create vibration. This is easily remedied by stopping and brushing the pulp off the screen/cutter by hand. Cleaning is very easy. Many people have told me that I look to be in better health since getting the juicer.

I was interested in getting started juicing, and I compared several juicers on Amazon.com, but I got offered this one through the Gold Box for a good price.Pros: It works! It's been great with carrots, celery, apples, pears, and especially ginger root, which I recommend adding to all your juices. It's not so hot with softer fruits like nectarines or peaches, and I've yet to try tomatoes or pineapples. It juiced grapes easily, though, handling the stems with no problem. The juice tastes good; it is very aerated and by the time it hits your glass apple juice will already have started to brown. Cons: It's not quite loud enough to hurt your ears, but you will certainly never use this without waking up everyone in your house. It requires a firm hand on top to keep it from rattling. The safety mechanism is modeled on Cuisinart's, but it seems less foolproof - it'll protect you from a slip, but not from an attempt to defeat it. And the feed tube is a little small - a large apple has to be cut up into 8 pieces, not 4, to fit in. That's annoying. Cleanup is pretty quick. You'll be wanting a sink that has a sprayer attachment; if you have that, cleanup takes about 60 seconds. I do recommend lining the pulp box with a plastic bag for easy disposal. Even if you do elevate the bag around the edges of the spout, you'll find that bits of pulp do manage to escape. The pulp itself is dry and sort of sawdust-y, and would probably make good compost. One word of advice - start slow on the juices. If you do what I did and drink 30 carrots the first day you have this machine, you'll discover that you might be in violation of your state's "emissions laws," if you know what I mean and I think you do! But other than that I'm happy with the juicer and very glad I bought it! |
