Very good performance with one drawback, January 12, 2010
This review is from: Juiceman JM503 Juiceman Pro 3-Speed Juice Extractor (Kitchen)
I've used the Juiceman JM503 for over 2 years and have used it practically every day. I make approximately 1 quart of juice a day from carrots, ginger, apple, oranges, sweet potatoes, beets, kiwis, pomegranates, celery and various greens. It's performed great handling anything I put into it. It's fairly easy to clean once you get used to it. I feel great, have endless energy and wouldn't do with out it. In fact it stopped working this morning so I went to look for a replacement. I looked at a few different manufactures and decided in the end to try to fix the Juiceman which I did this evening. Juice had leaked into unit from juice flowing over the stainless steel bowl which surrounds the spinning shredder. The juice leaking and hardening over time had coated the armature of the electric motor and preventing electric current from the motor brushes from flowing to the armature. The unit should have a gasket or flange to prevent juice from flowing up and out of the bowl which collects and flows juice into the pitcher. Other than that design weakness the juicer is exceptional. I bought a Breville Ikon juicer for my Mother and tried it. Not bad but more expensive that the Juiceman and produced noticeably less juice.
Update many months later. Still would highly recommend this juicer. I continue to use it nearly everyday to juice for 3 people which is well over a quart a day. I juice practically every type of fruit and vegetable only removing thick peels and it handles everything easily. The pulp is consistently nearly dry indicating that it's removing most of the juice. I've taken it apart 3 times to clean the motor brushes due to the leaking juice problem I described earlier above. It's time to do it again and this time the motor brushes will need to be replaces as they've worn done to a 1/4 inch. I provided feedback to the manufacture regarding the leakage into the motor and although they offered a discount on the purchase of a new juice which isn't what I was asking for, they didn't acknowledge the feedback or indicate that they had or would redesign the juicer.

As good as it gets, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Juiceman JM503 Juiceman Pro 3-Speed Juice Extractor (Kitchen)
I have been juicing for a lot of years using a variety of juice extractors, and the Juiceman JM503 is far and away the best juicer I have ever used or have seen my friends use. It is powerful, easy to use, and a breeze to clean up. Whoever designed this machine gave it a lot of thought and testing. I know I should be able to find at least one chink in the armor, but I cant see anything I would change. Thanks for a great product: I would recommend this to friends and family as well, without fear of it bouncing back to me.

Fabulous machine - with a few minor matters, January 11, 2010
This review is from: Juiceman JM503 Juiceman Pro 3-Speed Juice Extractor (Kitchen)
This is a great machine. I love the stainless steel, the wide mouth & the variety of speeds. The machine is not too loud, so I don't know why others have complained. There are a few minor issues that are quickly resolved if you follow the instructions to the letter. Putting it together for the first time was a challenge, until I read the directions. Now it's a breeze. This morning I had a little difficulty trying to juice a sweet potato. I guess it was too hard and it jammed the machine. I cleared it, and recut the potato and it was fine. (but I don't recommend juicing sweet potatoes with this unit.) Also if you put too much fruit or vegetable through the chute at once, it will jam the unit & cause it to shut down. (This is a good safety feature to keep from burning out the motor- despite the inconvenience)So, I just un-plugged it, cleared the chute & restarted, no problem. Makes great juice of all sorts. A quick cleanup tip- use a plastic bag in the pulp catcher & I use a vegetable brush to clean the filter, no sweat. I Highly recommend this unit. (I don't usually recommend anything unless it's exceptional.)
