Got my Juiceman Blender for Christmas 2002. Crushed some ice with it.. worked very well. I thought, "This is Great!". I was all excited.Next, I try to make some nut butter, following the directions in the booklet to the T. After blending for about 15 seconds, the motor blew. Now I have to send it back, and wait for a new model. Some Christmas gift! I won't be able to use it again until February! Now, why put a recipe for nut butter inside your booklet when the thing obviously can't handle it? The same thing happened with my Juiceman Juicer when I tried to blend a frozen banana. It says it will come out like "Soft-Serve" ice cream, but the motor died. This blender has all the power in the world. It sounded like an airplane taking off when I turned it on high, but the motor gives out way too easily. I would have thought it was a fluke, but after reading others comments, I can see this machine is just poorly made.

Great for just liquids, mediocre for lots of ice,

Only blender available under [$] ...if you need to crush and mix large quantities (64 oz) of smoothie type drinks.Motor has poor starting torque and needs some coaxing to get started for a full container of ice and "stuff" I have to shake the container and move the solids at the bottom to help the blades start turning. Motor stalls if just ice or solids are in the blender. Once the motor starts and ingredients starts to liquify, has lots of power to finish the blending. I too like some of the reviewers here had to replace the unit with Salton (parent company). The motor started to smoke on me. They replaced my unit with very little trouble and paid for the shipping both ways. I will keep my unit because it is much larger than a regular blender and will crush ice once the motor starts going. Great blender for just liquids. However it only gets 3 stars from me because I have to baby it. You CANNOT just load stuff in the blender and forget it. You have to watch it carefully and make sure the motor doesnt stall in the beginning.

Wow! A must-have for smoothie lovers.,

This is a knockout product - just got it today. The first thing I did was drop a bunch of full-sized ice cubes in it. In seconds, they were as fine as the finest shaved ice I've ever seen. Let it sit to see if it would leak - not a drop. I then proceeded to make a frozen smoothie - frozen strawberries, frozen orange juice (from an ice cube tray), frozen peaches, frozen pineapple, frozen yogurt, sherbet, small refrigerated yogurt, dab of half and half, and dab of orange juice (plus a little vanilla). In seconds, I had a perfectly blended 32 oz. smoothie. This is the product I should have purchased when I wasted my money on a Krups blender.

The Blender of the Gods,

If Jesus Himself used a blender, this would be the one. MASSIVE motor absolutely demolishes anything inside. The only downside is that it's pretty loud - don't use it late at night or you'll wake up the neighbors! Seriously though, put anything in here and it works wonders. I use it to make pancake mix, drinks, smoothies and just about anything else that'll fit inside!

One year later, things don't look so rosy,

One year ago I wrote a glowing review describing how great this blender was. Unfortunately now that I have lived with machine for one year, I couldn't be more disappointed with the product. It had the potential for being a really useful and powerful machine, at a very competitive price, ... but unfortunately the quality control of the blender leaves a great deal for improvement. I, ... have had leaks through the bottom of the blender and after getting three replacements jars under warrantee, I finally had had enough and disassembled the jar and fixed it correctly myself. It is not a particular difficult task to repair, if you have the correct wrenches, but you must be careful of the blade, which is very sharp. The rubber gasket inside the jar, that separates the blade from the base of the jar, has very little margin for error in covering up the hole in jar's base and must be correctly aligned to prevent leaks. Each jar that I received was poorly assembled and leaked within 2 or 3 weeks of use. Just great, now I have a jar that finally doesn't leak, but unfortunately after making the effort to fix the jar, today the motor appears to have burned out while making a milk shake. I have only positive things to say about the folks at the customer service department, but if the product was better designed, I would frankly rather be making milk shakes than spending my time shipping broken blenders back to the manufacture.

I was quite disappointed with this blender. It worked fine for about 2 months, but then the motor blew out as I was blending a smoothie. I wasn't even using any ice at the time. For a blender this expensive, it should last longer than 2 months.I'm planning on replacing it with a Waring.

I got this specifically to make smoothies. I found myself spending [money] for a 40oz retail smoothie every few days, and decided to try for myself. I grabbed a [money] blender from Target and it died within a week. I shopped around, and this one, with a 900 Watt motor(!) looked great. The blades are very thick, long, and blunt, no sharp edges. This actually works great, because they pulverize vs chop. The speeds this thing reaches are amazing! I've never turned it above the default 50%! I usually tone it down to 30-40%. Want my smoothie recipe? This is set for the 64 ounce jar, added in this order:1 pint skim milk

Shorted out TWICE,

I purchased this blender several months ago based on rave reviews, in order to make 3-4 ice-based smoothies per day. I followed the instructions included with the unit and after less than two months sparks flew out of the base and it died. It took the manufacturer nearly a MONTH to get me a new one, which died in less than two weeks. The manufacturer refuses to refund my money. If all you're blending is soup, it'll work fine, but why spend [price] for a "Smoothie" blender that can't make smoothies? I'm utterly disgusted and will never purchase another Juiceman product again. If you actually want real smoothie power, spend the money for a Vita-Mix or Blentec blender with actual customer service and serious warrenties. This blender is a huge waste of money.

I looked and looked, they all seemed so plastic and awkward. And I am no big fan of lots of buttons. Then I saw the Juiceman. 900 volts, big container -- everything about it said INDUSTRIAL GRADE! A man's smoothie maker -- YES! I think the design is great and does it ever whip up shakes! Two bananas, a bowl of strawberries, ice cream, ice cubes -- any order you please, it all gets done fast, it's not too loud, it all locks together very well, and it cleans up fast. What else could you want?

This is a copy of the email I sent to SALTON about their Juiceman blender.I thought you would like to a copy of the recommendation I have been posting on webs site that sell the Juiceman Blender which seems to co-inside with other recommendations on the sites: The first blender worked great for two weeks, then the motor blew. I contacted customer support and they made me ship it back them before they would replace it. Three weeks later I received a new one, and AGAIN after 3-4 weeks of use the motor on this one has blown too. Tomorrow I will contact Customer support AGAIN....... At the price I paid for it and the obvious manufacturing defect (judged from other reviews) I think they should ship out a new one overnight. But we all know that will not happen... maybe I could charge them rent as they have for 50% of the time. All I did was to try to make Margaritas. My little 9 year blender lasted longer doing the same thing. What gives????? |
