5.0 out of 5 stars A simple juicing book with TONS of recipes
This is a nice, straight forward juicing book that offers some "extras." It's simple, but it has an extensive array of recipes and leaves no stone unturned.

There's a section on produce that tells the reader what each item is good for (which vitamins and minerals it contains) and how to buy and store them.

The "Juiceman" also includes a...

3.0 out of 5 stars needs more variation of recipes.
Jay knows his stuff, no doubt about it. I enjoyed the part on nutrition and juicing for healing. I mainly juice vegetables instead of fruits because fruits are loaded with fructose (sugar). The vegetable juice recipes lack variation and are all based on carrots: carrot & apple, carrot & celery, carrot & cabbage, and combination of both, etc.. Now, these are wonderful...

This is a nice, straight forward juicing book that offers some "extras." It's simple, but it has an extensive array of recipes and leaves no stone unturned.

There's a section on produce that tells the reader what each item is good for (which vitamins and minerals it contains) and how to buy and store them.

The "Juiceman" also includes a crash course in all the nutrients we need to be healthy, WHAT we need them for, and in which juices we can find them in.

At the end of the book, the author includes a Q&A section and tips and points on how to make juicing an integral part of your life and what to eat to compliment a diet chock full of fresh juices.

All in all, this is a great book. It may not appeal to some who are in search of something a little more fancy, with a more complex layout. But, everything considered, it's a sure bet.

Now, these are wonderful juices and I love them but I'm trying to juice everyday and drinking carrot juice gets to be too much. I wouldn't mind recipes which involve all kinds of veggies. I did agree with the author on buying organic produce whenever possible and he tells you why. All in all this is a decent juicing book with simple recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars JuiceMan is my hero!, February 10, 2009
This review is from: The Juiceman's Power of Juicing: Delicious Juice Recipes for Energy, Health, Weight Loss, and Relief from Scores of Common Ailments (Paperback)
I think anyone contemplating this book would be doing themselves a favor by buying it. There are tons of recipes, and lots of valuable info on how different fruits and veggies effect your health. There are also important tips (example: never use more than an inch of ginger, or never do a predominately green drink) This man has dedicated his life to spreading the word about the "power of juicing" and your money would not be wasted in supporting his efforts. He has so much wisdom after a life of practicing what he is preaching. Hope this helps...

5.0 out of 5 stars very happy, September 23, 2009
This review is from: The Juiceman's Power of Juicing: Delicious Juice Recipes for Energy, Health, Weight Loss, and Relief from Scores of Common Ailments (Paperback)
I bought a juicer and also this book to get me started. Another review mentioned that the recipes are too simple, and I agree that most have only a couple/few ingredients, but I find them helpful for giving proportions that taste good. At the beginning, I had no idea how much cucumber or celery to juice with tomatoes, for example, to end up with something tasty. Now that I juice all the time and feel like I know more what I'm doing, I may vary the amounts of some ingredients according to how large the vegetable or fruit is, and according to my tastes. The book is also a good place to have nutrition facts close at hand with recipes and other information. I'm glad I bought it!

I think this book could have been put together with more thought. The tag line on the cover states "Delicious recipes for energy, health, weight loss, and relief from scores of common ailments" yet hardly any of the recipes state what health issue they are best for. The index is hit or miss; I was looking for a recipe for using broccoli; looking up "broccoli" in the index just led me to information about broccoli; I had to thumb through the recipes myself to find one for broccoli.

Much of the book is devoted to why juicing is good for you, more like a guide to health info on the vegetables and fruits, etc. That's okay if that's what you were looking for. I was looking for more of a recipe book than a text book.

This has some great recipes. That is the core of what is in this book and it will do the trick if you are looking for a list of great tasting juice recipes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor, June 20, 2008

This review is from: The Juiceman's Power of Juicing: Delicious Juice Recipes for Energy, Health, Weight Loss, and Relief from Scores of Common Ailments (Paperback)
This book is a rip off. I bought this book for the recipes and was extremely disappointed. Entire pages are dedicated to common sense recipes such as Apple Juice (2-3 apples), Orange Juice (2-3 oranges), Pineapple Juice, Carrot Juice, Cantaloupe Juice, etc., etc. If that wasn't bad enough they waste paper by printing one recipe per page, when they could easily fit 4 recipes per page. I suggest saving your money and searching the internet for better tasting and more expansive recipes.

4.0 out of 5 stars great information about fruits and veggie's, June 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Juiceman's Power of Juicing: Delicious Juice Recipes for Energy, Health, Weight Loss, and Relief from Scores of Common Ailments (Paperback)
This is a simple but informative book. I have just about read every page. Although I mix more veggie's than in any of the recipies in one drink and still seem to always make more than I can drink. It has given me a lot of great information about what to do that is important and some really great what not to do things that I never knew. I use it to refer to when I can't remember something about a veggie or mixing things together even though I don't really use the recipies as they are described.
