I was given a juicer, the one the great Jack Lalanne advertised on TV, because the purchaser found it more trouble to clean than the juice was worth. Initially so did I. But then I decided to try various different fasting protocols, and I got bored with protein sparing fasts so I figured juice fasts would be worth a try. When the juice is the whole meal, the cleanup doesn't seem nearly so onerous anymore. So now I needed basic information on what to juice and what not to juice, and problems I should watch out for.

Simple, right? Just pick up one of a thousand juicing books. Unfortunately, most of them are not what I was looking for. The vast majority were full of lists of ailments and juice remedies or lists of juices and their healh benefits, or long chapters extolling the health benefits of juicing. I'm not into the vegetarian lifestyle, I just wanted to try to get more healthy nutrition into my body than I could tolerate by eating raw veggies or get by buying cans.

What I wanted was the nuts of bolts of juicing: what to buy, what to avoid doiing, when I might want to use my blender vs. my juicer, whether I had the right kind of juicer for what I wanted, and so on. That's exactly what I got in this book (actually it is a series of 4 very short books combined, but effectively one reasonably sized book).

I felt a lot more comfortable that I understood the mechanics and principles of smashing up fruits and vegetables aftter reading this book, and it is very straightforward in tone and organization.

This book gives detailed instructions on whether to use a blender or a juicer in each situation and how to obtain the best results. Delicious recipes that also help you gain the most from your fruits and vegetables.

This is worth $3 for the recipes alone. I just bought a juicer and this gave me some great tips on how to get the most out of it.

Since I had never juiced before buying this book it was very helpful in how it laid out in detail each area I needed to learn to juice and do it correctly, from which juicer to use, which vegetables to buy, steps in how to juice and wonderful recipes. The section on nutrition convinced me I really needed to start juicing for my health and my bodies need of nutrition. Great way to lose weight and there is an informative chapter on weight loss.

I felt it was a rather easy read and easy to follow and in the end I was not only juicing but I felt confident and comfortable in my new found juicing abilities and knowledge. Thanks to the author for sharing his years of experience. The recipes are easy to follow. Loved the buying vegetables by color tip, it put an uptight first time juicer at ease. I would very highly recommended this book to any one thinking about juicing.

This is the most informative book on juicing vs blenders. Author gives info on everything from minerals, including macronutrients to micronutrients, fat and water soluble vitamins, fiber and all the fruits and vegetables where these are found. How to combine them, etc. He also let's you know that it's ok to eat whole foods. Really great information for the price, better than more costly juicing books.

This by for the best book I've read on Juicing, I thought the last book I bought was not so anymore. I love the detail explaining why you must eat certain foods together and why you should avoid some altogether. Excellent book

The recipes alone are great! The book is a quick & easy read. The title should probably say something like 'Juicing for health'. Weight loss is not the focus so if you are looking for a diet guide or an actual system, this isn't that manual. Weigh loss is just a happy side effect of juicing. If you are interested in learning what juicing is all about or want a refresher on the benefits (along with some awesome recipes), look no further. Some of the recipes are redundant, (in the kindle version anyway) there is no artwork, and there is no index for ingredients. You have to browse the pages to find recipes for the fruits and veg you have. For those reasons, I took away one star. Although that might not be fair considering this isn't an actual recipe book. All in all, this is a nice guide to juicing and the recipes alone definitely make it a good buy.

I like this book because it does not overwhelm you with information and provides recipes that can be followed with the average fruits and veggies that can be found locally. Most JUICING books like this include ingredients that you have never heard of and have to go on a treasure hunt to even find. My son is 12 and he loves the juices as well.
