I could write a review as long as the book because it really should be on the 'Must Have' list for juicing.
Glenis Boulanger
Overall, a great resource for juicing, whether for a novice, or an old-timer, this book will teach you all you need to know about juicing, and the Omega Juicer.
Katie W.
I've read it twice already I found this book to be a wealth of information and I also bought and Omega Juicer so I use the information to juice!

I wish the author much success with this book, I hope she sells thousands of copies! The book starts by telling the story of a family that got into healthy food, growing their own fruit and vegetables, buying seasonal organics when they didn't have garden produce. It is written by a real person who lives with a real budget - just like the rest of us. She encourages sensible buying so we are not wasting money buy throwing out food. This part was a really enjoyable read and I was nodding my head in agreement because I follow these buying and budget rules myself.

The 2nd part of the book is so detailed and the research so thorough that I was completely caught off guard. I was on a happy little trip with her family one minute and the next I'm reading the 'dirty dozen' list on the most toxic fruits and vegetables - those that have the highest toxic pesticide residue. This is offset by the clean list.

The author has gone into great detail on how to prepare your produce for juicing and then goes into detail on nutritional value of most fruit, vegetable and herbs. There are lists of ingredients for Detox and Cleansing, best weight loss juices, and then sections on which to put together for best results. There is a COMPREHENSIVE section on vitamins and minerals and which F & V contain high levels and what each vitamin and mineral does for you.

I could write a review as long as the book because it really should be on the 'Must Have' list for juicing. This book is about health and nutrition not just juicing.

If you only buy one book on juicing - this is the book.

If you need to know anything about juicing, you should get this book. Juicing is a very healthful way to get the nutrients your body needs and nothing, but nothing, tastes like fresh juice - my favorite is a combo of carrot, apple, beets, and a little bit of ginger. This book offers information about what to juice, how to store it, your juicing budget, and much, much more. Whether you are new to juicing or an old hand at it, this book is for you.

I like the way that the author has explained why you should look to invest in a high quality masticating juicer. I would say that the Omega is right up there with the best of them. There are a few others that I will still need to check out to see which one is the best though.

As for the information on the juicing aspect of this book it is good to see that you get a great idea on how good juicing is for you for the authors own experience. There is great information on what to juice and which ingredients contain what nutrients too. There are some great tips on how to prepare your ingredients which generally relates to setting up juicing for use with the Omega. If you have just picked up an Omega and would like to know how to start using it, this would certainly get you started.

If you are considering buying this as a "comprehensive manual for using the Omega juicer". Don't. While purchasing the 8004 model I scrolled down, saw this book, read the description, read all the positive reviews and bought it, thinking it a "handbook", or reference guide. It isn't.
In fact, the "tip" Deeter stresses the most is not to follow Omega's instructions for chopping produce. Jamming a whole carrot etc, down the feed shoot with the plunger may cause enough pressure for the drum to pull away from housing, leaking and possibly voiding the warranty.
The Omega juicer is one of the best investments Iv'e made and is a terrific product. "Juicing with the Omega juicer" is not. The fact that Omega features prominently in the title the cover photo and is mentioned 3 times in the description is a marketing technique and has almost nothing to do with the books actual content. There are a total of 2 pages which refer specifically to it, entitled "Care and Maintenance Tips for your Omega juicer". They would apply to almost every masticating juicer and are basically the instructions included with the manual written out longer and with the word "Do" (in bold type) at the beginning. Towards the end of this section, Deeter includes this "tip" : "...we managed to break the juicing screen that is used for making the juice. It was really our fault, although we didn't want to admit it- we dropped it down the disposal drain side of the sink and broke it trying to get it back out. But one phone call and not only did Omega send us a replacement they sent two!" Phrasing like "the juicing screen that is used for making the juice", is typical of the redundant style of the book.

This was a good read to introduce us to the Omega juicing world. I like the fact that this book ties juicing into the Omega Juicer specifically.
