I have read books on juicing and books on smoothies and books on why we should juice, etc, but this book is the first I've read which puts it all together in one book. If you buy this book, you really don't need any of the others. It covers everything you need to know about why you should be juicing and how to do it. I especially liked the section on smoothies because they are my favorite.

Since starting my green smoothie regimen as I saw on Dr. Oz, I’ve been interested in how I can better use my blender to eat more healthily (and not take half the day preparing complicated meals), so when I saw this book I had to grab it! And I’m so glad I did! This book takes you through everything you need to know to understand how juicing works, why it’s good for you, and most importantly, how to do it without breaking your bank or spending all day in the kitchen.

I especially appreciated the responsible approach the author took towards explaining potential pitfalls in adding juicing to your personal diet plan. From giving tips on how to maintain a balanced diet including keeping the fiber that you lose from discarding the skins in the juicing process to how to pick a good juicer and how to properly maintain your juicing equipment, this book is really a step by step guide to getting the maximum benefit from juicing without risking your health.

Lastly, the recipes at the end were just fantastic. From your basic fruit and vegetable juices to tailored juices that help burn fat or help boost your immune system, this book has some great fruit and vegetable combinations that I’d never have thought of. I think my favorite so far is the Green Juice Cocktail which combines celery, melon and a variety of other ingredients for a really unique taste.

Definitely give this book a try! It’s great!

Excellent... I liked that the author straight off cautions that juicing removes most of the nutrient- and vitamin- rich fiber, pulp and skin, stressing the importance of adding the pulp and fiber back into your diet. He also suggests ways of adding in extra protein, while pointing out the high sugar content in fruit juices and the need for balancing with non-sweet vegetables, offering a working ratio of fruit to vegetables.

Guidelines included more than washing hands and equipment with hot water and soap, but to be sure your blender or juicer is completely dry to avoid bacterial growth. Too often these very important basics are overlooked. Many other excellent tips and tricks are also offered that I haven’t seen in other books on juicing.

I was also glad to see that Fat Burning Juices were listed in their own chapter as were Energy Juices, and Detox Juices. Nuances were noted. Pertinent information was given on Smoothies, including the benefits of additional yogurt, tofu and seeds.

All-in-all a great introduction to juicing that arms you with the knowledge and flavorful basics to expand your own tastes while keeping particular health benefits of individual fruits and vegetables. Highly recommended.
