Review #1 Orlando A's (English translation): Rita Indiana is way ahead of her time. Nobody in Dominican Republic is making music like this. She is the BEST! She is the RE-incarnation of legends like Luis Terror Diaz. A new star is born. ONLY the Dominican Republic could've produced this MONSTER named RITA INDIANA HERNANDEZ!

I felt that the first review deserved to be translated.. if only to put fear in the non-Spanish speakers hearts and minds..because in FACT Rita is a MONSTER! She is leading the way in Dominican Music..ART. PERIOD. Coño
Along with Orlando's review, I'd add she is master lyricist, like Rene from Calle 13.. and she is somewhat the electric version of Aramis Camilo, Billy Idol, Las Chicas, and Debby Harry

I very rarely buy physical CD's anymore, but after hearing Rita live and then seeing footage of her shows I felt obligated to buy it because I needed to see how the beauty of their raw live sound would sound in produced form. The result is a 5 star album, and probably the best latin album I purchased in 2010. Their sound is at once distinctly caribbean (rhythmically), lyrically disctinctly dominican, and melodically very progressive latin american alternative. But to say that lyrically its distinctly dominican does't completely do it justice, because until you really hear her lyrics you don't appreciate what a great writer she is. I knew she wrote a novel and poetry before but her talent really comes alive in her here as well. A great first album. I hope it's recognized in the Cassandra and Latin Grammy awards next year.

Como seguidora de Rita Indiana desde que leí su novela, "La estrategia de Chochueca" por el principio de los 2000, sé que ella siempre habla de adentro. Ella es cómica, trágica, innovadora y brutalmente honesta, todo a la vez--lo cual nos deja con una extraña sensación de deleite. "El juidero" es así, innovador, trágico, pero también tiene un mambo que no podrás resistir. Gran variedad de estilos que se mezclan unos con otros. "Flores de fuego" es un logro profundo, es lo mejor ya cuando yo pensaba que mejor de "El blu del ping pong" y de "La hora de volve" no se podía poner. Un gran album, uno que hay que tener si quieres estar en algo que valga la pena... :-)

I was undecided between buying the CD or the digital download and i choose the download. Bad mistake. The sound quality of the digital download is really bad. I mean, you can hear the music but it almost sounds like this was part of their demo cd or something. I really regret notbuying a proper CD.
Besides that, this is an incredible album by a very original artist. I can't wait for their next CD (physical disc, not downloads)

To me El Juidero is one of the best albums ever, I love Rita Indiana and think that her music is just amazing, the album is greatly produced... amazing, can't complain of anything... I'm too grateful of owning a copy.

Music nowadays is so suspect because everyone is trying to sound like everyone else. There's not many artists out there that are willing to be themselves or be original. Rita Y Los Misterios are truly an exception and they are the bomb! (Meaning good). It is merengue with a twist of afro-cuban and a hint of reggae. The first song I was hooked on was El Blue De Ping Pong. Fast forwarded just to get to that song. Then I went back after the 5th listen de Ping Pong and listened to the whole cd. My next favorites were Da Pa Lo Do, El Juidero, Pasame A Buca, Le Hora de Volve, and Equeibol. Their take on the Eurthymics Sweet Dream titled Dulce Sueno is interestingly cool. It is not that it is not good but that just everyone from Marilyn Manson to even kids at a talent show have redone this song. Fortunately, this doesn't take away from the cd. It is still great for continuous play. Now, don't get me wrong the other songs are good too. I just listen to the other songs at least 3-5x more than the rest.
So, if you are looking for something authentic, seriously give them a try. You seriously won't be disappointed.

Me gusta su lado militante. Menciona a Amin Abel y la impunidad de su crimen. Tiene diferentes ritmos y letras concientes. Los videos son mini-peliculas, y me gusta que usan guitarras electricas en su repertorio, lo que creo debemos incorporar mas en nuestra musica para PROTESTAR y HACERNOS OIR MAS contra la corrupcion y la impunidad, al estilo de la ARMADA ROJA.
