2009 two CD set that combines a pair of original albums from the late great Sir Douglas himself. Juke Box Music (1989) features the sort of music that should be heard blasting from a Wurlitzer or Rock Ola in the corner of a Texas bar, a collection of songs from the post war years sung and played just as it was in its day. The Last Real Texas Blues Band, originally recorded and released in 1995, is a collection of Blues greats that influenced Doug Sahm in a career that began way back in the late '50s. 31 tracks. I have owned this music since it first appeared on separate discs several years ago and if you've never heard them and you appreciate Sahm's talent, buy this music. It brings to life the old rhythm and blues of the Texas honky tonk that used to exist back in the fifties and sixties. This is as real as it gets. It is buckle rubbing dance music. There was one Austin band in the late 70's that could compete, the Cobras.
