This review is from: Jukebox: The Golden Age (Paperback)
Recently sold our Rock-Ola Jukebox which is shown in this book. It is a beutiful book, colors and descriptions of specific Jukeboxes.
Mine is a keeper and the one recently purchased is a gift to the
fellow who bought our Rock-Ola. A 5-star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Juke jewels, January 10, 2009
I've always liked this little book on historical jukeboxes. A nice size, almost eight inches square and full of color photos on the right-hand page with deep captions on the left. The boxes have been photographed by Kazuhiro Tsuruta straight on, no nonsense shots and printed on black pages, so they look a treat.

The book starts with the Wurlitzer 24 from 1937 and goes up to 1948 with the Rock-Ola 1428. Nicely, table models and speakers fill out the rest of the pages. Authors Vincent Lynch and Bill Henkin write an eleven page history of the companies and designers.

Tsuruta's photos were so good that other publishers have used them. Chronicle Books issued them in American Jukebox an expanded version with text by Vincent Lynch. The photos are bigger and there are additional wall boxes and some historic ad material included as well. Certainly worth getting though I still prefer the original book published by Lancaster-Miller in 1981. It can still be bought quite cheaply if you look around the net.
