Not sure what's up with these families and their strange dynamics.

Love knows no bounds and no one should be judged for loving who they choose to love.

What I can say about these women is that they are totally loyal to these men..

Prison Wives is NOT a series of touching love stories: It's a parade of women (and one man) who are chronically incapable of making good life choices. It's train wreck after train wreck.

If there's one thing I took away from this series, it's not that "love conquers all." Nope. Judging from these women's stories, marrying or staying married to a long-term inmate is a Bad Idea, unless you enjoy being a martyr and want extreme financial hardship, alienation of your friends and family, and basically never having a normal marriage or family life ... not to mention never having sex with your spouse (in most states!).

A few of the wives profiled are sympathetic characters. ALL of the spouses, however, seem caught up in idealized, almost adolescent views of love and intimacy. They appear to think that feelings of "love" must always win over rational thinking and common sense. They don't realize that you can have love AND a balanced, healthy life -- but that requires you to be a grownup and make some hard choices.

I highly recommend showing this series to any adolescent girl who hasn't begun dating yet. Let her see for herself what happens when you set the bar way too low.

I totally get being in love woth someone but some of those women were literally crazy! No man is worth me pinching pennies or my kids being moved from state to state just because he's moving from prison to prison! Totally insane!

I found this show to be completely captivating. We all become psychoanalysts watching this, you can't help but pick apart the psychology of the women involved. One feels horribly sorry for most of these women, who are so insecure and desperate that they go looking for prisoners to marry, only to be horribly taken advantage of, almost every time. All the excuses they make for themselves and how they're different... how you can't help who you fall in love with (yeah, right!)... fascinating stuff. I wish there was a season two.

I liked it but man are these woman in desperate need of help, its depressing, the one woman needs to have her children taken from her in MY OPINION, the dad needs to be found, she don't want him found it would not benefit her sorry life instead she hurts her kids; the will be sorely affected by her poor decisions. The prisoner btw is the biggest con FO REAL, such a predator!

Discovery filmed our story 5 years ago for this series. Putting our lives out in public was not an easy decision. Ric had a 72 year sentence for first time non violent drug offense, if his offense had been federal the sentence would have been 36-72 MONTHS. We were engaged briefly when we were 17, reunited 30 years later 4 years into his sentence to death by incarceration. The road was very hard, many set backs, but I kept giving it my all and in Oct. 2012 I brought him home after 10 years behind bars. Life is not easy now. Ric has hepatitis C we believe from the unsanitary conditions in prison dental where he had a tooth pulled (1/3 to 1/2 of all inmates have hep c, most are never diagnosed and released to an unsuspecting family, public). The PTSD is very rough. Was it worth it? HELL YES!!!!!

Our country spends billions incarcerating citizens for drug crimes when treatment is a much better option with much better outcomes than trashing someones life forever with prison. So now Ric may need to go on disability that EVERYONE pays for instead of being able to go back to being a productive member of society, work in construction, running his own business, doing what he loved, framing houses.

It's pretty pathetic all the arm chair "psychotics" out there who wrote reviews of our series trashing all the women! First, you need to know that every story filmed ended up with 30 hours of raw footage, about 45 minutes made it in the can. We had NO say as to content (hey the re-creations were a TOTAL surprise to all of us!), the production company edited every story for maximum shock value, entertainment, sometimes to the detriment of the families. One wife lost her job, several regret ever doing the show, several divorces, breakups have ensued.

Was a different perspective from the typical prison shows, which I thought was interesting. However, it's still sad to watch.

I had to watch every one of these episodes..but only to try to understand why women would want to put themselves in a position to have their husbands in jail..spend all their hard earned money on them or making the relationship work..and follow them around the country as they get transferred to different jails, sometimes (if they have children)uprooting their children who have apparently no say in the situation and make them have to constantly be making new friends..no stable life if you ask me and the kids are the ones paying. There has to be an issue with not really having the man available..living in some sort of fantasy world where you can better control your environment without a man there..I have not a clue..BUT it really sparked my thinking about this lifestyle that is chosen by some women.
