The reviewer who complains about the book being copyrighted doesn't understand the cutthroat world of journals (really). The publishers put a warning inside the back cover saying that the entire book is copyrighted so that they are protected from imitators who'd try to reproduce the unique hand-drawn illustrations of stationery and office supplies inside. BE AWARE that whatever you write inside the journal BELONGS TO YOU. The copyright notice doesn't cover that--it's the drawings they're concerned about.

I've had this journal for a couple of years and primarily write in it with fountain pens. I don't experience bleedthrough, but it's not heavyweight paper on the scale of Rhodia or Clairefontaine, so the paper slurps up the ink a bit and will produce heavier lines than if you write on FP-friendly paper. Some pages are dyed different colors, which produces a bit of "slickness" so that the ink might react, but it does dry properly.

The only complaint I have is the fact that the distance between the lines varies between the six rotating designs. Most of the pages (glasses and pen, clipboard, the green, pink, yellow, and blue pages without illustrations) are fine. It's when you get to the weird part with all the file folders and mini steno pads that it starts to drive you a little crazy, because the lines don't line straight up across the page, they're all over the place! You have to sort of fudge it, and I've just started skipping that part. This journal has enough pages that I still feel like I'm getting my money's worth, though.

I loved everything about this little gem of a typewriter notebook! Every page is an adventure! no typos here! just lots of beautifully inked, fun-filled pages!

I like this journal, although the cover was slightly soiled in transit. I may cover it with a plastic (non-thermal) adhesive sheet to keep it clean (er). Although the pages include illustrations I enjoy seeing them when I turn a page, since unlike other reviewers, I use this primarily for lists and don't need all the lines on each page for writing.

I thought that this cute thingy would be exactly the right background for collages and fun sketches, but then I noticed the notes at the very end of the journal "No part of this book may be reproduced in any form without written permission"

So basically, THIS IS NOT A JOURNAL. It's a BOOK with an ISBN with only five almost blank pages repeated indefinitely, and you are not supposed to use it unless you keep it for yourself, never blog whatever you made with , never do art in it or take a picture of it.

It might do for a Victorian lady with very private thoughts, but in this age of communication, it's a bit of a useless hipster product.
I do hope Moleskine won't put an ISBN on their sketchbook, or it might get difficult for me to work :D
