5.0 out of 5 stars One was a soldier March 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a book that had to be written and MUST be read. It is a true-to-life story of the experiences of a half dozen soldiers returning from deployment in the Middle East. It is a love story and a story of faith and commitment.
Simply said, Ms. Spencer-Fleming has written a wonderful tale that rings all too true.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's really a book preview... May 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
...which is fine, but it didn't do much for me. There were only a few (maybe 5?) letters included here. Most of the download is a preview of the book (I think the first one). The writing for the book seemed pretty good. I could've downloaded the sample & figured that out, tho. This was really just a way to attract attention to & sell the book, which I understand. Again, it just didn't do anything for me. If you're a fan of the author or the series, then you'll probably like this little extra.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing. March 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I didn't like it so much because I had already read the book "One Was A Soldier". I expected there to be more letters to soldiers than just the few. As stated previously I had already read the book as well as all her previous books.
I would recommend it to someone who is new to Julia Specner-Fleming.

These letters are actually author's notes, set the scene, and are a good supplement to book - very much to be enjoyed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't wait for this one! April 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So happy to see this series up and running. Happy about the progression of all of the characters, still strongly written with the flaws that we expect, but the grace and goodness that I love. A story of a woman who is pushed to the limit with her family, job and military service. Great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alstyne Book June 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is my 6th book by her. Love her whole series, which I have all of them on Kindle. This one is a sample, but has ample chapters to get you started before you download the actual Kindle book.

These were letters to and from characters in the book as they served in the military. I enjoyed them thoroughly.

One of her best. She gets past the formula writing of some other female mystery writers.
