"Julian Assange: Warrior for Truth" is one of those books that was rushed to print in 2011 to capitalize on the explosion of interest in WikiLeaks and its controversial founder. It was published by Cogito Media Group, which, among other things, specializes in "producing high-quality books about hot news topics and current world affairs within a short period of time." Judging from this book, Cogito will put anything to print it can get its hands on, as fast as possible. This was a common strategy with the spate of WikiLeaks books in 2011, but this is one of the worst. The problems begin with the fact that its authors, Valérie Guichaoua and Sophie Radermecker, although fluent in English, are not native English speakers. They are native French speakers. The book is plagued by odd sentence structure, confusing terminology, and a convoluted style that often leaves the reader wondering what the authors are trying to say.

This is an unauthorized biography of a sort. It includes four chapters on Julian Assange's background, one chapter each on freedom of information crusaders Daniel Ellsberg, Jacob Applebaum, and John Young, six chapters on Assange's Swedish sex case, and bizarrely, five chapters dedicated to the fictional characters Élise and Xavier, who comment on Assange, leaks, and information activism. Élise is a hypothetical blogger, and her boyfriend Xavier is an IT security engineer by day, hacker and WikiLeaks volunteer by night. Needless to say, those chapters are meaningless filler. The remaining chapters, or about half the book, are about WikiLeaks.

Enjoyed this a lot, it's shed a light on the mystery behind the man. I would recommend this book to anyone intersted in finding out more about the man than just his legacy

There are very few men or women around in the world today who against all odds, want to get the truth out about the wrongs that are being committed by powerful entities all the time. While many around me shrug their shoulders and say that "what can I do I am only one person", you have Julian Assange sacrificing pretty much everything to shine some sunlight on things that many powerful people have been trying to keep in the dark. This book was great for shedding some light on the sex scam that was thrown on him.
