Inspired me to begin a new hobby - reading!,

I've never been an avid reader, but I decided to give it a try on this series from Leisha Kelly. Wow! These books are great and so hard to put down. Since I've completed all the books in this series (Julia's Hope, Emma's Gift, Katie's Dream and Rorey's Secret), I've been inspired to read many others. I'm also looking forward to reading the new book, Rachel's Prayer, coming out in July, 2006. I feel I've found a new hobby, a place to get away from everyday stresses.

A delightful story of Hope!!,

I enjoyed this book very much!! It has a clean fresh approach!! The only four letter words were hope, love, and pray. It tells a story of a much simpler life where hard times were approached with trust in God and neighbor helping neighbor. The characters were based on the hard working, church going type of people our Christian ancestors were who settled in this great country of ours and made it as great as it is today. I only wish we could go back to a time when we lived life with the same outlook that the characters in this beautiful book portrayed. It showed the true teachings of Christ thru their lifestyles of loving God and your neighbor. Thank you Lisha Kelly for this reminder of what we were placed on this earth for.

Julia's Hope,

What a wonderful book by a new author. I picked this book up at the library on a whim and loved it. The book tells the story of a woman who despite everything that happens to her and her family continues to have faith and hope that all will work out for the best. This is a subtly Christian novel. The author does not talk about religion directly and yet it is definetly a story of a Christian woman. We all can use this reminder of what faith, hope, and grace are all about. I recommend this book highly and look forward to Leisha's next book.

I read this book in two days(and that's with having to care for a baby too.)I'm sure if I'd been alone I could have finished this book within a few hours. But you all know how it is with a baby;barely get anytime for yourself.Anyway,"Julia's Hope" is the perfect book for those of us who are tired of reading books that have just sex, foul language, and more immoral acts. This was a book set during the depression when life was hard on everyone, but it was more of a simpler time than in today's world. This book had such an impact on me...to remember the blessings that we do have and to turn the other cheek when someone does us wrong. This book also strengthened my faith that God will provide for our needs.I can not stress it enough that everyone should give this book a try. Most people, I think, will love it!

A very enjoyable read. The characters come alive and it's very easy to relate to them. It emphasizes the important things in life, God, family and neighbor. I've started the second in the series and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Way to many characters.,

I am an avid reader and I did not like this book in that it had way to many characters with not enough differentiation between them. I had to go back time and again to look up characters!! Some of the characters even had similar names with little difference in personality. Also, it just seemed to far fetched to be 'given' a home and everything they wanted was given to them. Not for me. I didn't finish it (which is rare) and got rid of it.
I did like reading about farm life.

This is the first book in this series about their faith journey during the depression of the 3o's. I read Emma's Gift the 2nd book in this series first. Leshia Kelly has a special way of making her stories about real people. The reader has a strong part in her series. I can't wait to read her next book. Kay
