In this, her third photo-diary styled book, Julie Strain gives the reader the whole enchilada on her life growing-up, her expansive career and of course, those awesome images of Julie herself. But to do this book justice I'll break the review down into three parts according to what I suspect is the core Julie Demographic. Otherwise I'll just rave incoherently about how good it is.

1. The Artsy Fan (quote: "Hmmm...Sublime use of light and shadow.") Julie is also a photographer and it shows in this book. She's got an eye for what works and there are a lot of examples of her skills here. This book also contains many beautiful shots of Julie by other photographers and pleasantly her sense of humor shows in them too. This is a coffee table quality book with great overall layout and excellent photos.

2. The B-Movie Fanboy (quote: "Dude, that costume weighs like 100 lbs., -I read it in Fangoria. And hey...Sublime use of light and shadow.") If you love the Heavy Metal art and comic book version of FAKK2 then this book also has you covered. Lots of full page, full color shots from the comic book, lots of movie promo shots, lots of Julie in costume with guns and swords and all that cool stuff. Kick ass!

3. The Horny Fan (quote: "Muh...muh...muh...drool, -oh hey, sublime use of light and shadow.") Uber-hottie Julie in various fetish costumes, reprinted Penthouse covers, and just a lot of Julie Strain (which is always a good thing).

Overall, this book rocks. One of the best parts is that it's written by Julie and reads in her voice. She has an informal spoken style of writing so you always feel like you're getting the real story. She's got a great sense of humor and a big heart too, and all of that comes through as vividly as any photo. This is a woman who loves her husband, her work and who she is. Much more than a pretty face and smokin' body. With all of her talent it's still amazing to me that she's not made it in the Holloywood mainstream ala' Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, etc.

In summation, I say buy this book and get to know more about the real Julie Strain. She's much more than you've imagined.

THE GOOD POINTS:
The book has great background information about Julie's childhood. Pictures of her early modeling days in the little town she grew up in, and 3 photos of her as a young female body builder. There is a small section (about 15 pages) which has pics of her Heavy Metal illustrations.

THE BAD POINTS:
Only a few samples of her Penthouse photos. You mainly see the "COVERS" of magazines which she posed for. But not the actual contents inside. There's also not enough pics of her on the set with other actors she worked with. Only a few pics of the popular stars she performed with.

Lastly, I expected mostly eyepoping pictures. A lot of the pictures in this book are sort of uninteresting/boreing.

I have always been a huge Julie Strain fan and this book is a must have for any die-hard fan. her life story is quite similar to mine except most of my antics were in high school. Otherwise, this book is quite a read and look. Her photography skills were highly professional. And I like photography. JULIE STRAIN ROCKS!!!
