Julio was originally a goalkeeper for Real Madrid, but that career was cut short before it really got going - he was badly injured in a road accident. During his period of recovery in hospital, he became interested in a career in music, something at which he has since become very successful, originally singing just in Spanish, but later also singing in English.

Most of CD 1 is taken up with English language recordings. His solo songs include excellent covers of Crazy (Patsy Cline), Vincent (Don MacLean), Can't help falling in love (Elvis Presley) and When I need you (Leo Sayer).

He also sings duets with Willie Nelson (To all the girls I've loved before), Diana Ross (All of you), Stevie Wonder (My love), Dolly Parton (When you tell me that you love me), All 4 One (Smoke gets in your eyes), Frank Sinatra (Summer wind) and Paul Anka (My Way). Julio sings his parts of My way in Spanish but Paul sings in English. Fragile features Sting on background vocals and lead guitar.

Spanish recordings fill almost the whole of CD 2. I do not know any Spanish, though I recognize the occasional song (Amor and his British number hit Begin the Beguine, a cover of the Cole Porter classic sung mainly in Spanish), but it works brilliantly.

If you only want one collection of Julio's music, you won't find a better one than this. If you want to build an extensive collection of his music, this is a great place to start.

If you love Julio's music (his incredible voice), this is the album you have been waiting for. I have many CDs of Julio but I never owned a such complete collection of favorates (including Abrazame). Once you let Julio's music into your heart and soul, you will look at your surroundings in a different way. This is a great album and I highly recommend it.

P.S. I do not speak or understand Spanish; however, with this album, it is not necessary because you should let your imagination and dreams interpret his music.

This set of 2 Cds is a delightful compilation of Julio Iglesias' greatest hits of all times. For those who know and feel Iglesias'music, this is a must-have.

Julio Iglasias is an all time wonder! However, the mixer on this album overwhelmed his superlative lyrics by putting the orchestra in the front, on top of his wonderful singing. It's a bit less on disk two but disk one is hard to hear the lyrics of not only Mr. Iglesias but those singing with him. What a shame to ruin such a wonderful collection. Of course everyone should own these songs.
I'm a bit disappointed.

If yor love soft and easy listening, then look no further if you buy this CD. It takes hearing a few songs to get the latin feeling and get in the mood. Although Julio has a vast discography, you might say he's put the main essence in this CD. Sit back .... and Enjoy!

This colleciton of great songs by Julio Sr. is wonderful like a bright and sunny summer's day.

There are remakes, originals and never-released-before selections that will please the Julio afficianado in all of us!

Just put it on, grab some champagne & strawberries and enjoy!

I have seen this consumate performer in concert three times. And he does most of these tracks in this 2 disc set. This is one of THE best compilations ever done. His Latin ways, his charm, his slowwww sensual voice that hypnotizes--is pure magic.

I really enjoy listening to these tracks. And especially like to revisit his duets with Dolly Parton, Frank Sinatra, and Diana Ross. Listen and be wistfully blown away on "A Summer Wind".

Makes a great gift and addition to any collection.

"My Life" is a great career overview of a great career. Romantic music for the ages -- and wonderful liner notes that tell Julio's story brilliantly.

I grew up listening to his music, and at an young age, I thought he was very strikingly handsome and flirtatious. I never stop listening to his music that reminds me of simple times when it was okay to just flirt with someone and not do anything else afterwards. Through his songs, he brings out the true and real romance that should exist in today's relationships. I still think, twenty years later, that he is a handsome, sexy guy. Thank you for your music Iglesias!

I'm a Julio's fan since he started his career in 1978, his voice, the way he sing the songs, so romantic, make this complilation a real great CD, one of the best, Julio is the most romantic singer in the Spanish speaking language, MUST BUY IT, IT'S GREAT
