5.0 out of 5 stars Well, I'm floored., September 16, 2007

Absolutely breathtaking. I'm a huge fan of James Horner's work (not to mention many of the classical-modern movie composers like John Williams, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, and James Newton Howard). This recording definitely ranks at the top of my list. My only wish is that the Jumanji drums had been used more throughout the CD, but make no mistake there are tons of jungle-themed noises and music used. One of the most interesting aspects of this soundtrack is that you have the big-hitter themes found in "Jumanji," "The Hunter," "Rampage Through Town," and "Monsoon" but also exceptionally beautiful, slower melodies found in "A New World," "Alan Parrish, and "End Titles." I highly recommend this if you loved either the movie, James Horner, or both. This CD even does the original chidren's book justice. A wonderful addition to any collection. FYI, you can only buy this CD used now since it is no longer in production and iTunes does not have it. Check out amazon and ebay!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a good sound system, this CD will really show it off!, June 3, 2006

The "Jumanji" soundtrack music is really great -- one of Horner's best efforts. My only gripe is that many of the segments on the CD are too short. Just as you're really getting into something, it's over! Anyhow, besides being a terrific score, the production quality on the CD is excellent, with great dynamic range and depth. A real "show off your sound system" production!

5.0 out of 5 stars Realization, February 25, 2006
There's a theme in this soundtrack which captures the emotion of suddenly just realizing something... When Allan Parish realizes that his parents are dead, the way james horner wrote that theme captures the emotion perfectly (slow strings playing four successive chords) And now everytime I feel that emotion I can hear the music playing in mind! and for that alone i'm giving this soundtrack 5 stars... well done once again James Horner!

Another great work from James Horner. This soundtrack both enraptures the listener with its sweet flute then catches him off guard with a bang and rumble of drums that will pound down your hallway like the stampede from the movie. I love this soundtrack because it seems to capture most perfectly the sweet reminisce of better times from our fanciful, and cherished younger days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roll Those Big Dice: Jumanji, The Music of Childhood, December 1, 2011
Wow. My dad took me to see this movie and it's still one of my favorites.
The story is about a majic boardgame that comes alive when you roll the dice. The score itself is jungle themed and a true marvel to experience. It has romance, mystery, action and adventure. The strings just make my heart melt, especially in tracks 1, 4, and 13.
The music takes me back to when life slowed down and dreams were forever. It will take you there too.
My favorite James Horner CDs in order would be Braveheart, Jumanji, Casper, and The Land Before Time. Check those out for great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made Me Jump!, April 24, 2004
Wow! Turn this CD up loud, when your alone, and by yourself. It is frekishly scary! It can be used for anything you want to create. I make walkthroughs in my room and haunted houses at Halloween and I used it for both. This CD brings back every thrilling moment in Jumanji! I personally loved Monkey Mayhem!

From the very odd and loud Monkey Mahem, to the orchastra hits of the Mosquitos, the music for this movie is much more substantal then it seems in the movie. It really seems like you're playing Jumanji!
