Biography

"Jump Around," an impossibly infectious and catchy single, instantly elevated House of Pain from an unknown white hip-hop group to near-stars when it became a massive crossover hit in 1992. It made the band and it also broke the band, consigning them to the level of one-hit wonders. House of Pain continued to release records after their eponymous 1992 debut and "Jump Around," yet none of them… Read more in Amazon's House of Pain Store

2.0 out of 5 stars I've seen better, May 13, 2000

This review is from: Jump Around (Rmx) (Audio CD)
Well I originally just wanted to get the Jump Around single. But everywhere I turned to look it was out of stock.

So what I did was I went here to amazon.com for the first time. After reading that review by the one guy I was all exited. So I bought the CD

The remixes stunk (especially number three, I can't imagine what that guy was thinkin) but at least I got the original. Now if you are reading this don't be fooled by that guy's review. Your better off getting the album or hunting down the single but please don't get this!

I rated it two stars becuase even though I didn't like the remixes I was glad I finally got the original. And hopefully you will learn from my mistakes.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you like the original, skip these loser mixes..., June 3, 1999
This review is from: Jump Around (Rmx) (Audio CD)
These remixes are horrendous. I don't know what Jason Nevins was thinking when he remixed these puppies. The beats are aggressive and agitating. Nevins was working on a silkier groove before (Janet Jackson's "I Get Lonely" remix comes to mind), but now he has seemed to have gone harder (or tried to anyways). Regardless, this is a song that need not be remixed for dance clubs, it takes away from the original track.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good song finally made GREAT!!, July 10, 1999

This review is from: Jump Around (Rmx) (Audio CD)
I'd never even HEARD of Jason Nevins until I ordered this CD on-line (there was no track listing at the time), and I thought it was the ORIGINAL CD single of "Jump Around."

I could not be happier to have been wrong! Jason Nevins is "da bomb" (at least on THIS song....) Lemme break it down for you.....

1. 2000 radio edit --- just speeds the song up a little, and you wouldn't believe how much better it sounds!!

2. 2000 club mix --- another good version, but my least favorite.

3. Bump & Grind Dub --- BOOYAH! This song is the jackpot that makes the whole CD worth it. I have wiggled my butt all around my house for months listening to this one, and I never get tired of it.

4. original version --- it's nice that they threw this one in...you need it to compare how much the remixes have changed the song around.

I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a good dance song but hates junk like "Ace of Base"
