She is known nationally for her ability to make science understandable, relevant, and especially entertaining for the layperson. She is a frequently requested speaker at a wide variety of events, from Capitol Hill to aquariums and classrooms, and has appeared as an expert on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN's Larry King, Discovery Channel and more.

This is a little advanced for my 5 yr old grandson, but I have to say, he listened to me read every word and asked questions too. I even learned some things I didn't know. We will definatley read this book over and over again.

Sand completed our collection of the excellent Jump into Science series. It didn't seem like it would be as interesting, but I have to admit, I was wrong - Sand is as fascinating as any of the others in the series... Dirt, Honeybees, Moon, etc... ! My kids, ages 5 and 6, love the book and really enjoyed doing the science activity at the end.

I teach elementary children about different types of beaches. We also discuss how sand comes from rocks. This book shows many different colors of sand and explains why. It is easy to understand. I'm glad I purchased my own copy since I use it so much.

This was an awesome book. (I feel like I should say dude now.) It had simple, clear text It had great illustrations but even better photos. We loved the 'magnifying glass' which showed things up close.

I am excited to check out the other books in this series.

While we used this as a 'science' book, it was so fun I wouldn't hesitate to read it for fun during picture book time. Even the little guys loved it.
