5.0 out of 5 stars HOT !!!
When you think of "big band" a guitar is not the first instrument that comes to mind. But put that guitar in the hands of Brian Setzer and you've got something HOT! A mix of the big band beat that everybody loves and the driving guitar style of rockabilly's #1 axeman and the joint starts jumping.

1.0 out of 5 stars this is NOT swing
I bought this cd because of a review I read saying this is modern swing - no way is this swing - it's bill haley/elvis sound-a-like modern rock 'n' roll - if that floats your boat you will love this. I hate it because his voice is really scratchy and he is a limited guitar player - he has the standard bag of rock riffs but no way does he have the ability to play swing...

This is a compilation from the 4 albums made by the BSO and there are some real diamonds here. A great mix of music - from Glenn Miller to Queen to Louis Prima to Stray Cats songs. You'll hear the fat sound of the horns, the booming upright bass, the drummer going wild and Brian leading the way with a guitar that talks, sings, screams, crys and wails. If you're looking for a real good sample of the BSO in one CD, this is the one you want. The Swing revival is running high and this is one of the bands that started it all. So Hepcats and Kitties - dust off your two-tone shoes and get ready to hit the dance floor - this CD will make you move and groove.

Brian Setzer runs a tight band. Good musicians, well skilled and great performers. Swing music requires a bit more skill than the usual 3-chord Ramones song. Multiply those three chords by the number of people involved and the skill necessary to get this type of sound increases.

This band has the skill for swing music and is a joy to listen to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Swinging Party CD, November 27, 2005

Brian Setzer's interpretation of these standards is great. His rockabilly-infused big band sound breathes new life into some songs that have never been my personal favorites. However, while I do not doubt his artistry and vision, I do wish he'd revive a few standards that are not quite as obscure. Still, this a great effort.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra has done it again and again and again!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I got "The Dirty Boogie" CD, it's like a dirty boogie showdown for the one hell of a night you won't forget. A outstanding, tremendous, amazing "SuperHigh Octane" CD like never ever forget.

This is my first Brian Setzer album, but I've been a fan of his since his Stray Cat days. I have to say it's well worth it. You can't help but tap your toes or dance in your chair when listening to this album...it's ON!

What a great "introduction" to BSO!

Love Setzer. I had bought some of the cassettes used to compile this "Best of". Wore them out.

This CD is PACKED!! You definately get your money's worth. All of my favorites on one CD. It seems like it goes for ever. 23 songs on one CD.

So, beware reviews, and thank you but I'll stick with my swing : Squirrel nut zippers and Cherry Poppin Daddies
