5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for kids, September 19, 2007

I have to admit that I listen to Mr. David even when my daughter (5.5 years old) is not around. It took us one day to learn the lyrics and now the whole family rocks to "Crocodiles are hungry", "It's lunchtime" and "She's a good dog". We have seen him live - he is a great performer and we love all of his CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally kids music parents will enjoy!, January 22, 2008

This CD is by FAR one of the best collections of original childrens songs I know of. My kids who are ages 7 and 20 months both love the silly songs with rocken beats. Even my friends without children love it! You can definately hear musical influences from 60's rock bands to more recent indie rock. The song Jump in The Jumpy sounds as if it could be a Velvet Underground tune. Bottom line is that this CD has a great mix of catchy music and fun lyrics that our whole family enjoys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a refreshing change from your average kids CD, November 30, 2007

This is the sort of music children should be listening to. It is fun, creative and most importantly engaging. Instead of mindless repetition and the droning loudness which makes up the majority of children's entertainment, Mr. David's music truly allows both child and adult alike to smile at the melodic flow and spawn bursts of creativity through the story telling and depth of lyrics. We should encourage our kids to think for themselves and let them know it is ok to let their creative beings live and breathe. Mr. David's music does both.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our new favorite, August 12, 2010

I got this CD one day on the third street promenade in Santa Monica - a hipster type recommended it to me and I thought "Why not?"

When we got in the car I popped it in and the kids (and we parents) immediately got hooked. The boys (2 and 3 years old) now demand the music and they can't get enough of Hey! It's Lunchtime! (the riffs are endless - "Hey! It's Bath Time" and "Hey! It's Potty Time" and, just for us, "Hey! It's Date Night!").

This is a CD that kids and parents will love - especially if you love Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weird, wonderful and sublime., January 12, 2010
This review is from: Jump in the Jumpy House (Audio CD)
I never liked children's songs, even as a kid. As a new dad, I was desperate for something other than the typical fare, and as a musician I wanted something more sophisticated my boy and I could enjoy together. Returning from the local farmer's market one day, my wife regaled me with the story of a quirky hipster that shambled up to her and my stroller-bound son, pimping his "Jump in the Jumpy House" CD. The minute it started playing back home, we were hooked.

Be warned - this is some very silly, abstract stuff (one line goes "People are always asking my why there are so many soda cans in my yard!"), and more uptight, conservative parents will probably feel safer with more traditional fare - but for those with a sense of fun and adventure (and lacking the requisite lodged stick), there are good times to be had. Off-the-wall, goofy, absurd and delightful, and occasionally deeply poignant and touching ("Little Girl"). This is the only CD that makes my 7 month old dance, and that's some serious business.
