"A smart and honest freight train of a book, one that's as witty and approachable as it is pragmatic." —Chicago Tribune

Jump Ship will be a life-changing catalyst for readers!” —Kevin Carroll, bestselling author of the Rules of the Red Rubber Ball

“Shipp is a genius at diagnosing and correcting a life that’s gone off course.  Jump Ship will show you that success is not a destination, but in fact a direction.  Forward!” —Tim Sanders, author Love Is the Killer App: How To Win Business & Influence Friends

It's like seeing the whole puzzle vs getting caught up with a piece of the puzzle.

DISCLAIMER: I know Josh on a personal and professional level. This will be an honest but biased review.

THE BOOK: I wasn't expecting the book to strike a cord with me. I just purchased it to support Josh's work because outside of his achievements, he's just a cool guy and a great mentor. But you have no idea how much value I've gotten from Jump Ship. Seriously.

"You're never going to know what you want if you don't know who you are." I don't know why, but I started crying when I read those words. Probably because a part of me knew that I was already on the right path, moving in the direction of my dreams, fulfilling my purpose and having a great mentor by my side. But another part of me felt lost and confused because although I'm passionate about so many things, I had no idea WHY I'm so passionate about them and what I wanted to focus on specifically for the next 10 years of my life. Reading Jump Ship gave me the right perspective to see the big picture. It's like seeing the whole puzzle vs getting caught up with a piece of the puzzle. And it's this renewed perspective that has inspired me to reflect and go deeper in my "Y" to understand and see my "Z" (you'll get this when you read his book, which will be part of your "X').

THE AUTHOR: I'm very selective with who I take my advice from. When it comes to listening to someone I respect and admire, they must be:

a) WISE
b) EXPERIENCED
c) AUTHENTIC
d) SERVICE ORIENTED
e) RESULTS DRIVEN

Josh meets all of these requirements.

BOTTOM LINE: The proof is in the pudding. He demonstrates his successful strategies in his own life and in the lives of those he mentors.

Picked up this book and read it straight through. Easy to read, advice was hard to hear, JUST WHAT I NEEDED. I'm creating my chart of habits I do everyday and finding ways to tweak them to improve areas of my life and business.

"These tiny decisions define where your life is heading and ultimately reinforce or hijack who you want to be." (p. 75, Jump Ship)

I've implemented advice that Josh has given out to speakers in his Youth Speaker University program and following his advice has led me to "Jump Ship". He was the first person I told when I decided to take the leap.

Thanks for writing this book Josh, I have some work to do and people to give it to as a gift. Your work is inspiring!

P.S. I just put on my pants, now I'm off to make gold records ;) <--Must read the book to get this.

Josh's enthusiasm and genuine care for the reader shines through in this easy to read book. I basically read it two days whilst eating in-between and relaxing, whilst finishing off the Christmas holidays here in Perth, Western Australia. The fact I wanted to get back to read it as soon as I could was a good sign. I actually didn't skip ahead, like I do alot of times whilst reading a book like this. There was no need to, Josh tells you, to wait, look and listen in his friendly, down to earth, witty and straight to the jugular manner. Without going into any detail (not necessary) Joshes brief self disclosure of his childhood, sank my heart a-bit and I warmed to his hard truth's like a protective mother. Then I quickly snapped out of it and back to the mission, success, shake it or settle. Although, I have read similar books. This guy takes the layers off our wimpy little ego, fear based memories, so we can forge ahead. The Lesson 3, got me the most (As I couldn't decide between 2 of my dreams) and I have written it down now, although it took me a fews days to mull it over. There is a sequel to this book I can see down the track. I only finished reading it two days ago and I cant stop thinking about it, or my dream really!! I am in planning mode and I am off and away. As Josh says when planning meets opportunity success will follow, or something like that! Yes, I recommend it. I am not going to settle!!

I've read many career advice books. Probably too many. I had seen Josh's TV show called 'Jump Shipp' earlier in my journey towards creating my own business. I was always intrigued by the way the show made the whole experience feel so defined. I work full time for a very fast growing technology company, and so I didn't think there would be much of a hybrid model between my job and my passion, rather I just needed to pick one and hope for the best. After reading 'Jump Ship', I know this is not the case. This book lays out a clearly defined process for making the transition 10x easier on yourself because it forces you to think through your goals and create a plan. The bottom line is this book isn't just another feel good 'You Can Do it' attitude book - it's honest, calling you out, and very actionable.

What makes Josh Shipp one of the truly great voices of our time is not only his ability to help anyone with a heartbeat get to the core of their own personal truth, but also the fact that he is able to show them exactly what to do when they get there. In Jump Shipp, Josh uses his razor sharp wit and insight to help readers help themselves by finding their passion and turning it into a career. As a parent and employer, I have seen Shipp's wisdom and direction impact virtually everyone in my life, especially me - Jump Shipp was the spark plug.
