Book Description

November 20, 1999
Educator and corporate trainer Rafael Beer spent eight years researching the motivating factors which lead to long term success. After a series of pilot programs in public and private schools, he condensed the research into a practical, easy-to-follow method that brings results.

Filled with many stories of young people who succeeded against all odds, Jump Start offers a detailed success guide for students, parents and educators. The book includes a detailed plan for a character-building curriculum which has also proven to dramatically increase student achievement.

This is the blueprint for character education and goal setting in the new millenium.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This entire book is pervaded by by a respect for young people. This is the information caring adults - whether teacher, counselor, or parent - want children to hold close as they move into adulthood and into responsibility for our planet. If there is wisdom we have to pass on to our young people, it is within the covers of this book." -- Carolyn McWilliams, Founder/Director of Bridges Academy

Jump Start is the self-help book for kids that adults will enjoy reading too. More than just fun, this book condenses all the research on successful living that most people are too busy to read. An excellent contribution to our schools. -- Dr. James Prochaska, professor of psychology and head off the

One of the best self-help books for teens I've ever read. It draws in parents, teachers, and - most importantly - kids themselves in setting up an organized program for goal setting, learning better study habits, and adopting strong values. Lot of stories on figures kids admire (Michael Jordan, etc.), quotes, quizzes, research data. Throughout, the advice is doable, practical and focused. Author puts it all into a format that lays out an action plan. -- Dr. Paul Bastow, former school administrator at Torrance,
