5.0 out of 5 stars Jump at the Sun: Goldilocks and the Three Bears
This is a lovely book for a preschool aged child. It was very clever how the writer made the name Goldilocks applicable to a child of color. It has an underlying message that a child should obey their parents and be willing to do their chores.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't thrilled with this...
I didn't care for the the re-telling of the story. IMO, the author made the Goldilocks character a bit too cheeky/sassy for my taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book of morals and values, May 7, 2008

This review is from: Jump at the Sun: Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Fairy Tale Classics (Jump at the Sun Fairy-Tale Classics) (Paperback)
This was the best book I bought for my daughter. I love how the end of the story involves Goldilocks listening to her mother in regards to doing her chores, instead of the original story where she runs into the forest, leaving the Three Bears' place a mess. This special twist involves her actually staying to CLEAN UP the mess she had made. Wonderful! Better than the original story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!! Better than the traditional version!, July 28, 2007

This may be my favorite JATS fairy tale. The ending is a nice twist where Goldilocks learns an appropriate lesson without any scary consequences for breaking & entering the bears' cottage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, June 5, 2007

I really liked this book for my children! The drawings are beautiful and I loved that the bears made Goldilocks clean up her mess and then they walked her home. I highly recommend this and am buying a second copy for my son's class.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great rendition of a great story, February 16, 2008

JATS Fairytale Classics: Goldilocks and Three Bears (Jats 8x8)

I was delighted when my stepmother gave my children this book as a gift.
I had never heard of this particular series of books, but have now purchased a new copy (the baby tore up the one we got as a gift), and have purchased one of the other stories (Noah's Ark).

The illustrations are beautiful.
My children love the pictures.

I love the contrast of how this storyline is written and how the original was written because, in the new version, you see the consequences for bad behavior and a powerful lesson is learned about having respect for others.

Thank you to these publishers for a job well done!

I would like to see these books in a board book version, as we have a 2 year old that we are carefully guarding our new books from.

Thanks!

I think diversity is wonderful. My daughter has books that include White princesses, Latinas, and now a Black Goldilocks. I love it and so does my two-year-old! We have been reading this book for three nights straight. It's also a fun read for mommy or daddy. The pictures are great and the ending is perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goldilocks, November 15, 2009

This review is from: Jump at the Sun: Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Fairy Tale Classics (Jump at the Sun Fairy-Tale Classics) (Paperback)
It is a twist on the original Goldilocks and the three bears. The gold beads on her little locks or braids were an ingenious way to make this book work for African Americans.

The story line is a bit stronger than what I remember the original to be, yet not harsh. There is a good message in it. It deals with selfishness, laziness, ego, manipulation etc. Yet all in a way that children will easily understand.

Well done! My 4 year old daughter loves it!

This take on Goldilocks is unique. The children in my life like it, and I bought some of the other books in this series too. I appreciate the fact that it is a more contemporary take on an old, worn out classic. Children now days can relate to this one better. Its all fantasy anyway, but at least this is in a modern perspective.
