5.0 out of 5 stars LPN is the GREATEST!
as i wondered through a CD store, the LPN CD caught my eye and i bought it! i LOVE LPN! i love their unique style and all those groovy songs they re-did, like Pennies From Heaven, Hot For Teacher, etc. i'm buying their new CD, Swing is Dead, as soon as possible. my advice, if you don't already own this CD, go BUY IT! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be a jazz-prude...get up and dance!, December 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
I've seen the band live, even promoted one of their shows, and let me tell ya, they know that there are mistakes on this record. SO WHAT! If you're a headphones and easy-chair listener, this CD is not for you. Like any live recording, it is not about perfection, it's about energy. I play this CD every week in my DJ gig, and no matter what song I play, everyone get's up and dances. If you want to hear Benny Goodman, buy a Benny Goodman CD. If you want the most volatile jump-swing asylum break ever heard, buy this NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Swing this, March 23, 2000
By
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
I had never heard of LPN before a friend played this CD for me. I have heard lots of live CDs from all sorts of bands, and none have had the energy and style that this has. LPN is not your ordinary swing band. They cover classic swing tunes like "Pennies from Heaven" and "Sing Sing Sing", and they make swing versions of songs like They Might Be Giant's "Istanbul" and Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher". They also have original songs like "Mississippi Darling" and "Big Pants Dance". LPN is fun, energetic, and absolutely one of a kind. Don't miss out on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was scared, but I liked it., January 22, 2000

I bought this CD at Hot Topics of all places cause a friend recomended it. I wasn't sure what to make of it cause after all what kind of swing CD would they sell at Hot Topics, then when I listened to it I thought it was great. They get the crowd working, and the energy is pumping, and I just can't get enough, especially of their version of Sing, Sing, Sing. I heard it and was blown away. It is just so good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swing Meets the Un-dead at the Hi-Ball Lounge, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
Anyone who has experienced Lee and his incredible musicians knows that no one comes close - Imagine Gomez Adams leading a superbly talented swing band and you begin to get the idea. Lee's thing is the vibes which he plays at a tempo (and very accurately) close to causing them to catch fire. I was there the night that this CD was recorded at the Hi-Ball, years ago and I will not soon (actually never) forget it. The Hi-Ball isn't a huge ball room (understatement) but the joint was jumping like only LPN could do. Give yourself a treat - get this CD, and if you dare, TRY to Lindy to it - it may help if someone pours fire ants in your big pants!! Lee's music will never die! errr welll maybe more appropriately - un-die?

5.0 out of 5 stars Manic Swing from Hell, August 5, 2003

This album totally bowled me over. It is high-energy, blistering swing and it hits you right from the first note. Even folks who might not be predisposed to big-band or the swing revival of the 90s ought to give this a listen because it brings almost a punk rock mania to big-band classics, rock-and-roll songs you never thought would be covered in a big-band context, and some cool originals.

Highly recommend this CD. It always engenders a response when I throw it on the stereo.

This album seriously kicks!!! I think that Swing is Dead has some cooler songs, but I really like the whole live recording thing. Makes me feel like I'm there. LPN FOREVER BABY!

4.0 out of 5 stars As entertaining as Hannibal Lecter at a dinner party!, March 31, 2001
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
'Swing is Dead' is definitely better. That said, this CD is a lot of fun. I got 'Swing is Dead' first, and had the benefit of several months playing it almost constantly to prepare me for this one. Unfortunately, I chose to play it for the first time at work. I'm fairly sure my boss now thinks I'm insane, due to the periodic hysterical giggling emanating from my cubicle as I listened. If you already like LPN, get this CD. They produce classic LPN style along with hilarious commentary, and all while (I suspect) half the band is completely hammered. If you're new to LPN, get 'Swing is Dead' first. You'll be better able to appreciate this one afterwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best New Swing Band, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
Swing music is so huge, and as with anything that gets popular, most of it sucks. But Lee Press-On is the best band out there right now. It stays interesting through the whole CD. Caldonia and of course Hot For Teacher rule. This is great for people who like swing, but not the trend!

5.0 out of 5 stars LEE PRESS ON IS THE BOMB!!!!, June 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jump Swing From Hell: Live At The Hi-Ball Lounge (Audio CD)
Lee Press On and the Nails is the best band I have ever seen. The CD is fabulous. I have listened to it over and over and I am sure that all my neighbors have grown to love it too. If you have never seen Lee Press On in concert you should go, they put on an incredible show. If I won the lottery, I would bankroll them to superstardom, but with their talent I think they'll get there by themselves.
