The Jumpstart series of workbooks are excellent for summer review, tutoring, or homeschooling. We have found all their materials to be age appropriate and encourage a 'learning is fun' attitude. The Kindergarten Reading Readiness Workbook concentrates on phonics and word recognition. I would use this stand-alone workbook if I were concentrating solely on phonics - if you are looking for a full Kindergarten curriculum, try the Jumbo Pre-K workbook and the Toddler & Prechool CD-Roms.

The consensus opinion on this product by the internet reviewers was almost magnanamously terrific... they were right. My ultra-bright 6-year old (on 12/21/06) granddaughter, in private school and new to computers, loves it and sticks with it for long periods each time... but Mom needs to be near to dampen the computer or mouse frustrations which we hope will soon stop. One side issue: while checking it out I saw it priced somewhere at about $9... but lost sight of that webpage and ended up paying on delivery about $45. I hope to make more buys like this, except not at list prices.
