5.0 out of 5 stars The Finest Compilation
This disc has the highest ratio of superlative tracks of any compilation in the disco genre. It showcases gems that were not popular with the mainstream, were unknown to the suburbanites who made disco a trend, and were virtually never played on radio stations outside NY, LA, and Chicago. 1.0 out of 5 stars I AmTrying To Buy A Copy of Jumpin' 2
Unable to find. I have been trying to get my hands on this CD for a year now. Not only do i continuously check the net, but i am also on a list to be notified should any of these CD's become avail used or new. A year later-still NO luck. Is anyone interested in selling Jumpin'2 / The song i love and want most from the CD is Carl Bean's 'Born This Way'.

This disc has the highest ratio of superlative tracks of any compilation in the disco genre. It showcases gems that were not popular with the mainstream, were unknown to the suburbanites who made disco a trend, and were virtually never played on radio stations outside NY, LA, and Chicago. The weakest tracks here are above average. Eight of the songs are superior, with Inner Life's "Moment of My Life," Carl Bean's gay pride manifesto "I Was Born This Way," Martin Circus' exalted romp "Disco Circus," Frisky's "You've Got Me Dancing In My Sleep," and especially Black Ivory's "Mainline" with Leroy Burgess reaching the apex of disco quality. These songs induced ecstatic reactions in those lucky enough to encounter them on dance floors in the 1977-82 years. Four additional songs, including the overlooked "Over and Over" by Sylvester, round out the collection. The liner notes are interesting and extensive, and include photos of the 12" sleeves or, in the case of album tracks, the lp covers.

5.0 out of 5 stars For happy and carefree people!, March 16, 2000
This review is from: Jumpin 2 (Audio CD)
Have a listen to both Jumping compilations and you 'll soon realise how all this house music thing started.Yes,all the influence on the music we dance since 1988 can be found on the underground scene of New York in the late 70's.You 'll just love every song.Jocelyn Brown singing the original version of the 'Moment of my Life' (a 1997 hit from Bobby D' Ambrossio), Norman Jean - the voice of Chic singing 'Saturday' (a Donna Allen's hit) and Roy Ayers singing the gorgeous 'Sweet Tears'. Hey, there is also Sylvster's greatest moment ever 'Over and Over' (a 10 min cover of the Ashford and Simpson masterpiece) and Leroy Burgess ' 'Mainline'. And there is more... This compilation changed my life!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Fool, April 21, 2007

Check out the review this idiot wrote below. He rated this album one star because he is unable to locate it. If you want the CD so bad then why did you rate it one star? So because of your false review this item now suffers in it's rating. Wake up fool.

Anybody who likes old school disco tracks will find something to like on this CD. I hope they keep this series going, as Jumpin 1 is also very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disco Classics but not the usual mainstream., January 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jumpin 2 (Audio CD)
This is one of the best disco albums available. It is basically a compilation of the original versions of songs that have either been covered or sampled by dj's & other groups over the past 10 or so years. The stand out tracks are 'You can't hide from yourself' by Teddy Pendergrass which was recently covered by DJ Sneak,'Moment of my life' by Inner Life, covered by Bobby D'Ambrosio, 'Sweet Tears' by Roy Ayres, covered by Nu Yorican Soul & 'Life on Mars'by Dexter Wensel. The covers are good but the originals are usually better. Most songs are in the 5 to 6 minute range so you get the full versions. There is a Jumpin'1 CD out which is also excellent.
