Great Jump Blues Comp,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jumpin' the Blues (Audio CD)
This is a really great collection of relatively obscure jump blues and proto-rock'n'roll from the late 40s and early 50s. Highlight tracks include Stomp Gordon's "Damp Rag" and Cecil Gant's "Rock Little Baby." The near-instrumental (there are a few shouts) "Chitlins" by James Von Streeter and His Wig Poppers is also amazing.

Obscure, yes,

This review is from: Jumpin' the Blues (Audio CD)
For a jump blues nut like me, I appreciate the obscure gems here. Only 4 stars, however, as some of the performances are not the best of the best...a couple of the vocals are less than strong. A great release nonetheless.
