Product Description

The Time Jumpers are Nashville's best kept musical secret, but the word is spreading about what many of Nashville's recording artists, musicians, and industry executives have already discovered on Monday nights at The Station Inn. About eight years ago, a few of Nashville's studio musicians and vocalists made a deliberate decision to get together on stage one night a week just to have some fun playing their music of choice, and calling it their therapy session. The venue chosen was the world famous Station Inn and before long the band grew and so did their audiences. The group now consists of 11 of the most talented pickers and singers you'll ever have the pleasure to hear. The Time Jumpers have reinvented Western Swing - bringing it into the 21st century with more power, energy, and downright fun than you've ever seen and heard. Armed with their infectious arrangements, amazing musicianship, and engaging personalities, The Time Jumpers have been Nashville's best kept musical secret....but the word is out!!

The band's overall sound is so musically complex, yet relaxed, that you marvel, How do they do that? Even if you have never had more than a passing curiosity about swing music, The Time Jumpers can seduce you with their music. Steven Stone Vintage Guitar Magazine --Vintage Guitar Magazine

You are listening tonight to the best Western Swing that has ever happened anywhere on the face of this earth. It is rare and it is exceptional and it deserves your support. Jimmy Dean --Jimmy Dean

5.0 out of 5 stars It ain't over till the last fiddle plays March 11, 2009

Absolutely amazing music and the folks who play it are true virtuosos. I'm pretty much a purist, but in most cases, the versions on this CD are better than the originals. If you like Western Swing or Swing or Western....don't even hesitate, 'cause you're going to love this music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time Jumpers "Jumpin' Time" October 11, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I have thoroughly enjoyed all the songs. It gets you to toe tappin' and "trying" to dance a little. Wonderful musicians who have mastered their instruments. A real "Keeper."

5.0 out of 5 stars Standing ovation for the Time Jumpers. September 30, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
It's hard to get started on this. Do you know western swing? If you do, I'll just say, this is some of the best you'll ever hear. Great fiddle section work, astonishing improvisations by everyone, including some of the hottest C6 steel I've ever heard. Super singing, both male (including the legendary Ranger Doug) and female. Ballads, yodels, hot swing. Good quality recording, good balanced sound. I really like this collection.

If you don't know western swing, this is an excellent intro. It's country meets jazz, mostly a swing era style, but also some bebop influence. These folks are tops in their field, and here they are clearly having too much fun. Listen to the samples, and if it sings to you, get it. It's a treat for the ears.

5.0 out of 5 stars What are you waiting for? August 28, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
If you like prime Western Swing just put this one in your cart. You won't be disappointed. This is a truly fine collection of tunes from studio players who know how to strut their stuff and complement each other. Full of bounce and soul. Every musician is top-notch. It's unfair to single anyone out but, having said that, if you want to hear steel guitar great John Hughey absolutely tear it up on the C6 neck, as opposed to the "bring home the groceries" neck, you'll get it here. Accordionist Jeff Taylor, besides being an accomplished musician and songwriter, has a sly sense of humor, evidenced by what he throws into the mix. And vocalist Carolyn Martin lithely wraps herself around several numbers. You just sit by me, dear. Hear it and you'll get it. I loved this CD and still do after many listenings. I'm going to put it on again right now. Ah, yesss...

Wonderful stuff!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is a got to have July 14, 2008
By c kim
Format:Audio CD
If you like old school Texas swing reminescent of Bob Wills, you must get this cd or better yet - the DVD. We saw these folks on Grand ole Opry. They are a goup of musicians who have been playing/singing with many of the nashville 'Elite' for many years. They started getting together at a local Nashville 'honky tonk' on Monday nights to jam and jam they do! We got the DVD for ourselves and the cd for my husbands father. My father in law has played fiddle most all his life and he was bowled over by these guys. We ended up giving him the DVD also so he could show it to his friends and fellow musicians. The Time Jumpers are a musicians cup of tea because these guys are flawless. We will be getting another DVD for ourselves and keep it mind as a gift for others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Therapy for them and Therapy for us! July 13, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
These Nashville recording artists and musicians got together for a Therapy Session once a week and it turned into good therapy for you and I when we hear the pure joy coming out of our speakers. The live recording has all the infectious flavor of being there in the audience and hearing the music and even their banter to each other between songs.

Laced with good old standards done with their own brand of western style swing arrangements gets your "juices" flowing in all the right places. Being professionals in the truest sense, their playing is "tight" and their delivery is spot on....Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A View From Downunder November 5, 2008
Format:Audio CD
This Album is the best music I've heard in the past 20 years. I have Bob Will & the Texas Playboys Album with Merle Haggard {the box set on vinyl} & in my humble opinion the 'Time Jumpers Live @ the Station Inn' surpasses that in musical talent and sheer joy of playing music. The sound quality and the musicianship of the Time Jumpers is joyful to listen to over & over. I've even bought the cd to play in the vehicle when I'm away from the DVD player.
I shed a tear when I read of John Hughey's passing!
I hope they continue in some way without that brilliant steel player.
