Jumping the nail,
By Pete (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jumping The Nail (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (School & Library Binding)
The book takes place in Southern California near the beach. The characters Mike Moriarty, Dru Driscoll, Scooter Navarro, and Elisa Fratello are all high school graduates. This story is about The Nail this high cliff that kids like too jump off into the deep, deep, deep water. Scooter talks Elisa his girlfriend into jumping the Nail but she is very scared and not a very strong person. She will do things to please other people. Then other kids started to talk about jumping. Mike and Dru were strong people and tried to stop people from making bad choices. In life bad choices can last longer then one moment of fun that could change your life forever, all in the name of love. It's about kids talking kids into doing things they really don't want to do. The part that I liked was when Elisa was in the water and she thought the girl who was in the car grabbed her foot and told "her to stay with her." Both Boys and girls age 13 and up would like to read this book. This book talks about interesting choices you have make everyday it's like jumping the Nail everyday. The book talks about all different types of people and social levels and everybody still has to make choices good or bad. In the end you make the final choice. The book has some twist and scary stuff in it.

Jumping the Nail,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
Dru and her boy friend, Mike are the main characters in this story and are completely against jumping the Nail that just started after 9 years. Dru's troubled friend, Elisa, and her jerk boy friend, Scooter, were the one's to start the craziness and it continued by Scooter saying,"Who's next to jump." Dru and Mike try to stop everyone but the only thing that could stop them from jumping was the horrible tragedy at the end of the book.

This is a must-read book for wild and independant teens.,

This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Hardcover)
In this story, Dru, the main character, finds herself worrying about her friend Elisa and her guy, Scooter. Little did she know that worrying might not be enough to save her friend's lives. Dru lives close to a teen jumping spot, The Nail. When the couple decide to jump it, Dru seems more worried than ever. She knows that someone hit the buldge and almost got killed. She doesn't want that to happen to Elisa. This is a must-read for teens that think that being wild is phat, because something just might happen.

Bad judgement can be deadly,
By Jonathan (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
"Jumping the Nail" is about a teenager named Dru, her boyfriend Mike and a 90 foot plunge called the "Nail" in Southern California. Dru's troubled friend Elisa wants to prove her love to Scooter, her boyfriend, by jumping with him. Because of all this Dru and Mike try to stop this from going too far or something even worse. I really like the suspense this book gives the reader. You always want to read another page. This book is also fast paced and it was hard to put down. I think anyone would like this book ages 12 on up. This is a book that everyone would enjoy, but especially teenagers. I think the message in this story is that proving the unnecessary can be harmful in many ways.

Jumping into an adventure,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
Jumping the Nail was one of the best books I have ever read!! This book is about a group of teenagers that have started a new hobby, one that is very dangerous. Jumping the nail. Jumping the nail refers to jumping off the edge of a cliff called the Nail. the setting in this book is mostly at the Nail. The other parts of the book is in other places. I think the authors message of this book is about peer pressure and how it can take over your life. I also think that the book has something to do with the saying, "If your friend jumped off a cliff would you?" I really liked that Dru would do what ever it took to make sure that her friend Elisa was ok. I think that both girls and boys would enjoy this book. The girls and boys that read this book should be at least in their teenage years or older to understand this book because of the events that happen in Jumping the Nail and the. The teenagers that read this book should at least be at the eighth grade reading level because they would not understand it otherwise. Lastly I think that all teenagers should read this book. It has many life lessons that students should learn. For instance you should not be able to be pulled into the game of peer pressure. Once again I think that this is a great book and everyone should read Jumping the Nail.

The book Jumping the Nail, by Eve Bunting, is about how kids jump the nail. Everyone thinks it is very daring to jump it because the last jumper hit the rocks and a boy and girl went into the Deep and never came back. Some people jumped the Nail to prove their love for each other, to get attention, or just to have fun. A girl named Elisa it to prove her love she encountered something when she jumped, that ruined her life. If you like to read books that have to deal with ghosts and people getting involved with them, you would like this book.

Review for The Second Biggest Project I Will Probably Get,
By "sillywabit2" (Somewhere, Over the Rainbow) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
Jumping The Nail is one of the best books I have ever read. It takes place in La Paloma, CA where Dru, Mike, Scooter, and Elisa live. La Paloma is the home of a ninety foot cliff called the Nail. Scooter and his girlfriend, Elisa, plan to jump off the Nail. No one in La Paloma has jumped from the Nail ever since the terrible accident ten years. Before Dru and Mike can stop them, Scooter and Elisa jump. After the jump, Elisa starts speaking about something mysterious she saw in the water. This book is appropriate for the ages 12 and up. I think that people who like suspense and romance will enjoy this book. Jumping The Nail contains a little romance, it shows the importance of friendship, and it shows the danger of taking chances.

Good book!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
Jumping the Nail is a book about a group of teenage friends who come across a 90-foot deep fall called the Nail. Many of the teens wanted to jump it to prove that they are not afraid of anything. The first ones to jump are Elisa and her boy friend Scooter. She wanted to show her love for him by jumping the nail. When they jump it safely, Elisa's friend Dru noticed that Elisa was changing. She wasn't the same person that Dru was friends with. The reader wonders if he made her stop her medication. I think that this was a very suspenseful book and that not that many people would dislike it. I liked the suspense of the floating shredded boot. It shows a lot about peer pressure from teens and how teens would deal with it. Another thing that I found interesting was that not only teens give peer pressure; parents can put pressure on their kids too to make their decisions.

Jump Of A Lifetime,
By SAS (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jumping the Nail (Paperback)
In Eve Bunting's book, "Jumping The Nail", teenagers in La Paloma, California, are taking the jump of a lifetime off the 90-foot tall "Nail". In the story Dru, a recent high school graduate is planning on attending college at Northwestern University. Her boyfriend, Mike, will be attending college much closer to home. The teens in town are enjoying their summer, until peer pressure drives one couple to jump the "Nail", which then leads to others jumping. Scooter Navarro and his girlfriend Elisa (Dru's best friend) are the first couple to jump the death defying "Nail". After making the jump safely Dru realizes that her friend Elisa is not acting like herself. Elisa confides to Dru that during her jump she saw a drowned girl at the bottom of the ocean. Elisa is acting weird due to her depression, and she thinks the drowned girl is going to come and get her. Meanwhile there is a rivalry going on between two brothers and a boy named Hopi, over a girl named Diane. To prove to Diane that they are "real men", the two brothers decide to jump the "Nail". To make things even more exciting they decide to make the jump at night with all their friends watching. The two brothers make the jump and then something happens that nobody could have expected. I liked this book because it was full of suspense and it kept me interested until the very last page. One of the things I especially liked about this story is that it dealt with one of the worst kinds of peer pressure. I would highly recommend this book. The people that would enjoy this book the most are young teens, both male and female. |
