More About the Author

Michael Pearl was raised in Memphis, Tennessee, in a good home, by parents who were faithful to point him to God. Mike, a graduate of Crighton College in Memphis, has been active in evangelism and the work of the Ministry since he was a teenager.

He worked with Memphis Union Mission for 25 years, while he also ministered in hospitals and churches to the many military families in Memphis. Mike also pastored churches during that period.

About twenty two years ago, Mike and his wife Debi moved to rural Tennessee where they continued in the work by holding Bible studies in local homes, which eventually led to regular meetings of the local body of believers, and the starting of the prison ministry where Mike still ministers every Saturday.

God eventually led them into the ministry of writing on child training and family relationships, which they now feel is their life's work and calling. The result of this work led to the formation of No Greater Joy Ministries (NGJ), a 501(c)(3). The web address is www.nogreaterjoy.org. The largest project that NGJ has ever been involved in is the Good and Evil Project, a work to translate the Illustrated Bible Storybook Good and Evil (G & E) into 100 languages. G & E has 25 languages in print, and another 40 languages in the process of being translated or edited. The book is available in black and white and full color in English and Spanish.

In addition to the child training ministry, the work of the prison ministry, missions, and Bible studies, the Pearls have an active family life. They have been married 37 years; have 5 children, and 14 grandchildren with more on the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for parents struggling with teens, November 10, 2011
This review is from: Jumping Ship: What to do so your children don't jump ship to the world when they get older (Paperback)
This is a must read for parents of teens and children of all ages. It really helps to open our eyes to what we mistakenly do to help cause our older children to turn away from their families. Even our best efforts to keep and protect our children is what pushes them away at times. I loved this book and have heard many people I know give praise for the help they too have received in the the loving, honest words in this book! Just love the way Michael and Debi Pearl give truthful insight and help to today's families! This book would help not only the parents but anyone who works closely with children and teens, whether they be family, teachers or whatever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christian Parents Please Read!, November 13, 2011
This review is from: Jumping Ship: What to do so your children don't jump ship to the world when they get older (Paperback)
This is an excellent book! You want to know why so many "Christian" kids turn away as they reach high school, college, young adult age? Read this book! And see how this devastation can be avoided! I know so many family's whose children would greatly benefit from Jumping Ship. Parents want the best for the children. Sometimes things can be overlooked and/or there is blindness in areas that is hurtful to your child. Do not allow yourself to be oblivious to those things which cause children to "jump ship." They are preventable.

5.0 out of 5 stars BIG HELP FOR PARENTS, November 12, 2011
This review is from: Jumping Ship: What to do so your children don't jump ship to the world when they get older (Paperback)
Going against the world in what is popular and easy, the Pearls have written this book to help teach and encourage us to teach and train our children in the way they should go. How not to loose them to the world. They've taught me to not be so selfish and to open up my life to my children...be a part of their everyday life...go have fun with them...be good listeners...respect them. I see the fruit! Thank you Pearl family for opening your lives and hearts and so much of your time to a world that is craving godly answers.
