Sara is an award-winning screenwriter and professor of Media Entertainment Arts at College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita, CA, as well as writer/producer for House of Gorey Productions. A horror aficionado, she is the author of Splatter Flicks: How to Make Low Budget Horror Films amongst other industry books. She is a frequent workshop leader and consultant. I appreciate the instruction, examples, and experiences in the book. It is well worth the information as an overview to help set up your first business. Half of the book was the stories of tiny struggling young wannabes that are finally having some success. The other half was useful to direct and warn against pitfalls. I welcome a second, advanced book that would fill in the actual procedures, budgets, infrastructure, and daily activities from a seasoned stronger feature film producing company. This book is a good start and I recommend it.

This is a great reference for anyone who wants to know some of the basics about forming their own Independent Production Company. I found the advice from some of the "experts" to be really helpful and thought provoking. It gives the reader a really good idea about what they will come up against while trying to form their own company.

The only thing that I wish was touched up more often is the best way to find "financing" for your films or production company. Most of us know the ways NOT to go about finding investors. I wish their was more focus on how to set up a good presentation for possible investors and the best online tools to help with this.

Beyond that, like I said, its a great resource and I would recommend it to anyone.

this book is just a whole bunch of people talking about there careers..........your better off making some meetings with people in your industry and picking there brains

not only would it cost lest.....you would get more out of it
